With the exception of the shrek films, I hadn't ever heard of Puss in Boots. I saw a hard cover copy on Barnes & Noble's website for about $1.23, and knew I had to buy it. It's a very short, very cute story, and I have more of an appreciation for Puss in Boots now.

I'll add a more detailed review later, but I'll be ordering the next 4 either tonight or tomorrow because I definitely need these in my life.

It was a cute story. It would've been a quicker read if I hadn't been so busy recently, but it's no big deal.

There are some qualities of instalove, but when reading a romance, what else can you expect? I read it hoping for a cute little romance, and that's what I got. I really like the idea of the main character, Katie, making a list of things she'd never do, and it's kind of inspiring me to do something similar, as cheesy as that is. It's even cuter that Chase, the male lead, is helping her cross off everything on her list.

My only real issues with it are that some of their behavior is kind of immature, like Katie trying to make him jealous, and Chase leaving without saying a word to her, and it being kind of predictable, but as I said before, it's a romance. I'm not going to grab a romance novel and expect stark originality.

Other than that, it was fine. It was cute and it did what I wanted it to do. I could actually see myself re-reading this at some point. Not to mention, the epilogue was cute.

Edit: I stuck a sticky tab on the pages where there was explicit sexual content, and at the end of the book, there were only 4 tabs, and the sex in it isn't written horribly. I've read a lot of fanfiction and quite a few explicit romance novels in my time, and I thought that the sex was tastefully written in this book. In case anyone's wondering about that, or worried about it being hypersexualized.

This was honestly a very cute book. It was a quick read, which is to be expected given that it's middle grade, but it was very enjoyable. It tells the story of a lab mouse that escapes, and joins a new mischief. He also meets a human girl named Hailey, that gets to know him and the rest of the mischief living in the Brophy house. They all work together, in the end, to get the rest of Isaiah's family out of the lab, giving the book a happy ending.

I thought it was a very sweet book, and rather cute. I love books centered around animals, especially when I get to read from the animal's perspective. My only real complaint isn't really a flaw with the book itself, but I feel like Mr. Patterson could've used this book as an opportunity to talk about animal rights in a more concrete way. I feel like he could've addressed it in a message at the end of the book or something, and he could've put something in there about "Here is how you can get involved with animal rights." Him leaving it out isn't a big deal, but I feel like it would've been a good addition. Given that the message of the book is essentially that animals are people to (in a sense) and that we can get along despite our differences, I would definitely recommend this one.

This book took me about a year to finish, which was not entirely the books fault, because I admit I was very busy and stressed through most of last year, however, it also shows that I was able to put it down and not be too excited about picking it back up again.

It's not a bad book, by any means, and I did thoroughly enjoy it, but it didn't really strt to spark my interest until about half way through, which is one reason why it did take so ungodly long for me to read, along with the fact that the book is over 800 pages long.

I found myself taking quite a few notes during reading, which I do anyway, but I almost felt like I had to take notes for this one because there is just such a vast word with a huge cast of characters, I found it difficult to keep all of the side characters straight.

I gave it 4 stars because I could potentially see myself reading this again, and it was a very good read, but it's not quite at the level of making me want to buy the series hardcover just as a collector's thing or of even making it a priority to re-read. I have plans to finish this series, because I did enjoy it enough to stay interested in some of these characters and to see what becomes of them all.
