I was really hesitant about this book about 1/3 of the way in but then I came to really like it. The writing style is endearing without being cheesy.
Also I adored the slow burn romance that could easily have been done mid story but was better when it was held of.

I liked the story and the set up a lot. unfortunately the parallel timelines often made the main plot hard to follow. I wish it was clearer when certain things were happening.

At first, I didn’t like how much of the author’s personal voice existed within the text. Then, as it went on, I realized that her personal voice is part of the entire point. She’s talking about these women’s relations to true crime and death, and how it’s extreme versions of many women’s fascination. While I understand her journalistic non bias, I do wish she had been a little more scrutinizing of the women who obsess and fangirl over real murders.

Ingrid was so unlikeable for so much of this book it was hard to root for her even at the end. But she did come around and become a better person and character.

I found the protagonist to be quite annoying but I enjoyed the outcome and the fall out. Not exactly what I was expecting which was good.

I loved this book. The descriptions were great and claustrophobic at the same time. The trauma was so well written and realistic.

This is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. Not because it was bad but because it was so gross and detailed in a way that is just viscerally unnerving. Impressive writing but fucking hell.

This book was rough to say the least. The plot was so character heavy without actually building up any sort of interest in the characters. The writing was messy, with multiple repeat lines that were word for word the same. There was no suspense in the horror, it came out of no where and ended immediately. The sci fi/horror part didn’t really get interesting until the very end and then it was over. Overall, this was not a great read despite having some potential to be better.
