Act Like a Lady: Questionable Advice, Ridiculous Opinions, and Humiliating Tales from Three Undignified Women by Becca Tobin, Jac Vanek, Keltie Knight
5.0
You know it is a good book when you automatically want to become the author(s) best friend. I felt inspired by these women and I learned a lot. They made me feel understood and reminded me of my power. This is a great book for people who struggle in relationships, mental health, body positivity, etc. This would also make for a great gift.
The Long Walk by Stephen King, Richard Bachman
4.0
I would say I have read over half of King's work and this one is one of my favorites. It is unlike most of his work but does not lack the mystery and horror. A competition where there is only one winner. The stakes? Walking yourself to DEATH. Although it was a very serious book, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about all the fitbit badges the competitors must have reached! lol
If It Bleeds by Stephen King
5.0
I am a big fan of Stephen King but I have noticed that the books that I like the least (still enjoy and adore) tend to be his short story collections. However, I loved this one just as much as I love his other books and novels. I believe SK's strength is in his attention to detail and his storytelling and that is often cut short when he does his 20-40 page short stories. This book taught me to never doubt the King because he packed in the magic of his storytelling and detail into stories even shorter than 30 pages! You will not be disappointed.
If You Tell by Gregg Olsen

You will be disgusted. Not because of the author or the writing, but because of the gruesome story. You will be disgusted in the way the people in this book were treated and you will be amazed at the survivor for her grace and perseverance. This is not a story of despair, it is a story of strength and resilience and I am in awe of this survival story.
Bibliophile: An Illustrated Miscellany by Jane Mount

Such a great gift for any book lover in your life and most definitely for yourself! I am obsessed with the illustration and picked up some more books to add to my tbr from the suggestions throughout these pages
The Regulators by Richard Bachman

Don't get me wrong, I love this book. But its counterpart, Desperation was better. The storyline in this one was a little bit harder to follow and I did not find myself cheering on the main characters like I did in desperation.
The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil by Philip G. Zimbardo
5.0
This book will make you question if you (or anyone close to you) is actually evil and it is sitting dormant in you. This book tackles the question of how people do terrible things. The author uses his deep knowledge on psychology to explore the idea that all people are bad, and all people are good. It is the situation that determines the outcome. This was vey true for his Stanford Prison experiment which he references throughout the whole book. It was a wonderfully informative read.
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James

I gave this four stars because the plot was amazing. However, I find myself just wanting to get this book over with as I read it. I blame most of that on the fact that I committed the crime of watching the movie first.
Cujo by Stephen King
5.0
I hate to say it, but the movie was scarier. The book was still scary but I had a hard time visualizing a rabin dog in my head 1. Because I have never seen one and 2. Every time I think of a dog I associate it with cute and cuddly.
The Demonologist: The Extraordinary Career of Ed and Lorraine Warren by Gerald Brittle
5.0
The stories were scary but the realization while I read this that MOST of the scenes in the conjuring and annabelle movies were TRUE was even scarier. When you watch a movie that claims to be based on true events, you assume that only 20 percent of what you see is based on the real story. This book confirms that Ed and Lorraine dangerous profession was accurately represented in the movies. The book also goes into detail about how one makes themselves more susceptible to possession and hauntings and I hate to say that I have done some of the no-nos on that list!
