The prose was amazing, i would enjoy it every time i picked the book up. But damn the plot is so boring i just can’t bring myself to finish it.

I will come back to it later. First 100 pages were agressively boring.

Practically unreadable for me. Giant sentences, unstructured text, rants about this and that, all with big smart words there was no need for. The book could have been twice as short, with ten times simpler vocabulaty and syntax, and maybe then I would have finished it. Because there were some actually interesting ideas there, buried under a load of bullzjit.

The first 25% and last 5% of the story are very good. Everything else is a bit stretched out. The ending is suprisngly subversive. Nicholson is best character hands down. The ending is what makes a good character out of him.
If it were a bit shorter, had a bit  less racism (even if it supposed be a critique of it), and had more Nicholson POV in latter half, then it would have been much closer to 5/5.

The ending is genuenly good.

I think I got the idea of what this is. Don't see a reason to read further.
One hellish book I must say. I think this book would have been four times as bearable if the author removed that billion and a half anecdotes and quotes from ancient literature.

Wonderfully complex. A lot to learn about recontextualisation.

Brilliant and dense book with loads of cool info. There are a few issues, - check them out on the wikipedia page, - but other than that it is a very good book that has a significant effect on your view of sleep.
