So, there were some good ideas in this book, but the writing was severely lacking. There isn't a moment where she stands up to her step-monsters and becomes a stronger character. It just doesn't happen. For like the first 60% of this book, there isn't a plot. The step-monsters just punish her for stuff nonstop, and not much else happens until around the 80% mark. We don't learn anything about the space civilization they live in, which I would have liked because the idea was cool. This could have taken place anywhere, and the story would have been unaffected. The tournament was the coolest part of this book, but it was too short. The love story was unbelievable because they barely knew each other, but I guess that should be expected from a Cinderella retelling, so I'm not too mad about that. The ending was actually kind of cute.

I really only liked Sora, Ty, and Mikail, the rest of the characters I couldn't care less about. There really isn't a plot. Stuff unrelate to the characters' main goal just kind of happens while they travel to the capital city. There is little to no world building, like we're told how bad the King is, but you don't really see the negative effect of his rule in the world at all. The twist at the end wasn't my cup of tea. This book needed a lot more revising, in my opinion. The cover, the end pages, and the sprayed edges are really beautifully done. I really wanted to like this book. I hate leaving negative reviews on books, but if I didn't like it, I didn't like it. ☹️
