Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead by Emily Austin
3.0
I get that this book will not be for everyone. Some will miss the humour. Some will miss the tragedy. Some will miss the honest truth of life with depression, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts. But some will also find peace and comfort in knowing that they are not alone. I found myself relating to a lot of the elements of this story, making note to write down some quotes for reference later. Personally, I missed a lot of the humour. In retrospect I can see it, but there’s was just too much truth in the rest of it for me, that it triggered mind wandering introspection and made me miss some of the finer points of the writing. This is definitely on my TBRA list.
Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

So many emotions. This book was heartwarming, made me cry, filled me with hope, and made me feel seen. As someone who lives with chronic illness, this book brought to light some of the many struggles and inner turmoil that it takes to get through the day, to trust in others, and most importantly to trust in yourself. This book is a gem that I highly recommend; as long as you don’t mind the smutty details that bring these characters to life.
Bad Sex: Truth, Pleasure, and an Unfinished Revolution by Nona Willis Aronowitz

Insightful and informative, this books was a blend of memoir and research essay. While there were definitely sections that gave me pause, the amount of information and history was a little overwhelming. I think I’d like to revisit this one again, in printed text, when I have more time to dedicated to appreciate the research and maybe connect more with the authors self-reflection.

There’s just so much going on, so much to process. It’ll take me a while before I’ve fully digested it. Maybe then my rating for this novel will increase. I’m still a little lost and overwhelmed by it all. Definitely a book I want to revisit
