The story itself was good. I really enjoyed the story. But it took me SOOOO long to get into it, and the pace really didn't pick up which I was bummed about. This probably would have been a DNF if the story hadn't been so detailed and captivating.

Significantly better than her last series. I still wished for more detail and deeper dig into the plot, but I definitely want to read the next book to see what happens.

The writing was well done and the story was intriguing, but the pace was a little too slow for me and made it hard to get into. I'll probably listen to the second book for this reason.

Okay, I don't know how to feel about this book. Did I like it? I think so? Could I put it down? No f'ing way. Of course the writing was phennomenal, and I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened, both in the manuscript and also between the main characters. I hated Verity (the character) which was obviously the point, and felt so much for Jeremy and his little family. But that ending, holy shit. This might be up there in terms of biggest plots twists I've read in a while. Wowzers. Well done 👏

Honestly,  I don't really know what the f*ck I just listened to. But I liked it! I really really liked the transformation and process she went through as she came into her own. I especially liked the theme and consciousness of feminism and the role the patriarchy plays on her role as a mother. I am not a mother, so I couldn't personally relate in that regard but I understand in a removed kind of way. I found it strange at first but then came to enjoy that they didn't have actual names other than Nightbitch, the mother, the boy/child, the father/husband.

Overall, I may not be the target demograohic for this book. It's pretty conceptual and abstract. But I still quite enjoyed it!

Not gonna lie, I was excited about this book because of the hype on Insta. I was sad when the story fell flat after the first couple chapters, pretty surface level content. It was like the book could have been half the length with the lack of substance, or could have been longer with a more flushed out and detailed political climate, character development, etc. It could have also gone through another pass of editing as there were quite a few grammar and spelling mistakes.

Overall the story and writing itself was decent, especially for a debut novel. I liked the spiciness fine enough. I plan to read other books by this writer with the hope she finds her groove.
