This book is still an enigma to me even after finishing reading it. I know nothing about the book in regards to its storyline when I started this. Even though there were a few explanations about the world itself, I had a hard time grasping how everything works. The major plot of the story is mostly about the Lilac and Tarver surviving and seeking help on this unknown planet that has this mysterious energy that can alter somehow your reality. This was rather a quick and easy read that can hook you from its very first pages yet there were a few moments that can be dull considering it's just them trying to survive the whole time.

I was truly engrossed in the world-building and magic system where it was enthralling and effortless to read.
The magic system is well crafted though there were moments that it was rather hard to grasp. Thankfully there was always a descriptive way of telling it. I would love to know more about the history of the world itself yet there were only a few that were mentioned.

When it comes to the characters and their romance, it definitely lacked at times considering how the main could move on that quickly and fall in love that easily. I know that they are friends and companions, and that they have chemistry but that chemistry isn't enough to build that romance. I could see them as friends but as lovers not so much. How the time passed in the story, it was strange how suddenly it was months and years later even though it only felt like yesterday. The time jump didn't really bother me but I just wanted to mention it.

Overall thoughts, this was a remarkable debut novel.

Sadly, this book sucks...
As much as I adored the first book Compared, this one was disappointing. Tessa is the main character and she was so annoying making me not like the book altogether. The plot was a big no, just no, and how Tessa was assigned to sabotage the work progress of the workers?!! I'm sorry, but I hate the plot, hating Tessa even more for her participation in it. I understand her insecurities and her little setbacks in stuff but if the plot was different then maybe I would have enjoyed it.

" You're etched to my fucking soul. You may as well stay etched into my skin. "

I've been in a slump lately and this book is exactly what I needed to get out of that slump. I knew from the beginning that I'm gonna love this book considering it took less than a day for me to actually finish it. I'm not really into the past-present storyline yet I didn't have any trouble while reading this.

Karin never fails to amaze me with her writing style which makes you feel disturbed and alarmed when reading. The plot was rather dark in subject matter making it gruesome in some cases along with adding some twisted details than it already is.

I consider this as a cute summer read while I was on a long bus ride. I'm not really a fan of love triangles and the teenage crush that Belle has with Conrad, so I consider her as a character that would not stick out to me in a long run.

There was nothing special about the plot considering that nothing really happens and they just have a routine and all. If I had to choose which character I liked most? It would be Cam since he has more personality than the mains. Lastly, the ending was so confusing?!

Hear me out, Teddy seems nice although nothing from his personality appeals to me. I don't understand the connection Ruthie and Teddy had, especially in the beginning where Ruthie was already daydreaming about him about his hair and his beauty. Also, making it so descriptive and making him seem like an angel or god's gift?!  No, just no...

It took a while to get into, yet I still didn't really like it. If they made it sapphic between Melanie and Ruthie, that would have been better... No offense Teddy.

As the story progresses, it gets more emotional and heartfelt in a way that has made me feel so appreciative for the characters and their development throughout the series.
