Something I absolutely adore about this is that our protagonist, is completely out of his depth and honestly a bit useless. Its an amazing adventure with the supporting characters actually taking the lime light, and rightfully so. I honestly wish we could get a story for Fleas point of view ( I am never going to shut up about how amazing flea is )

A disgraced lords son, haunted by the mistakes of his past, follows his fathers dying wish to the vibrant city of Saphrona - and he finds way more than he bargains for.

This book is truly a story of grit, will, and pure spite.
Most of the events take place over one day, though there is some lead up to it. It reads like a true thriller, one that you definitely cannot put down.

Briar is an amazing protagonist, and despite the dire circumstances there are quite a few funny and sweet moments. It's described as a genderbent medeavil Die hard and honestly its even better than that sounds. The relationship between Briar and Alaric is adorable.

Theres lasting consquences to a bloody night, no one gets to brush off life threatening injuries. You get a real sense of the story going on after the last words of the book.

A great epic, full of blood and rage.

The footnotes and narrators voice is hilarious and a great addition. Sometimes I feel footnotes can get annoying but these just fit in perfectly. Bran is such a golden retriever, he’s like the one character questioning why everyone is singing in a musical - especially as he gains more self confidence and grows into himself in the third book.

Finn is the beautiful cat that is very possessive over the golden retriever, but I’m not too sure what that makes Pax… insane chihuahua? Actually I take that back I don’t want to risk her wrath even through the pages of a book.

All of these books are like soul fables. They are perfect hilarity fantasy. They feel cozy whilst also having a drunkard pixy, and most importantly show how no one needs perfect endings.

A beautiful book about adventuring, family, and friendship. To run dungeons, you need a group. Aleric arrives in town with purely that intention - and quite a bit of baggage (the emotional kind). But he quickly finds he's not the only one.

The characters and their development is amazing, though this book isn't exactly fast paces, you are so invested in every little chat and friendship that it feels like it is. There's danger and dungeon crawling, and magic, and politics, but its also all so very human and the found family is just unmatched. UNMATCHED.

 This !!!!!!! book !!!!!!

I could ramble about how incredible every little detail of this book is for hours. Theres so much expression in the smallest of things. I have no idea how to put my all admiration for this book into words.

I don’t know where to start so I will start with Clemeh. Clemeh is a gecko, a pawn for powerful people, no one sees Clemeh as more than a use until Small Sade. Small Sade is my favourite protagonist ever. She’s so real, she has pain, and pride, and most of all compassion. This is a story of revolution in many forms, it’s a story of people, power, and love. 🌿 As someone with a somewhat similar disability to Small Sade, this book means the world in so many ways

Read this …

• disability rep
• queer romance
• found family
• Clemeh

This book does take place in the Raybearer world It’s not a must to have already read them !

Neveranimas, ancient powerful ruler of Seven Cities and of the dragons.

I love this depictions of Dragons, magical flying lizards - it makes sense that they view humans as lesser. Humans to dragons are tool, tools to maintain control both over small things and over themselves. Though it is hidden beneath smiles, the servitude is know, but only truly to those chosen by the Dragons.

Anahrod, the face of villainy for all of Seven Cities lives a life of wildness and danger in The Deep - and is definitely supposed to be dead. I feel the need to say this now that Overbite is definitely my favourite character and an absolute darling - and deserves more recognition.

Stolen from the life she has made, Anahrod is drawn into a heist which is almost certain to fail. Love me a ragtag team with an impossible mission - especially with dragons, magic, and a mystery.

There is some very *ahem* spicy spice here and there, but they kind of feel like weird interludes and I didn't feel like they connected much to the story.

This book has floating cities, hidden magics, epic dragons, found family, and animal companions.

What would you do if you woke up in a dark lords tower, singed, and with no memories ?

🐌 Taking into account that legging it isn’t an option as it turns out you, are said Dark Lord.

Okay so throughout this I was imagining Gav as Edmund Blackadder, and Grrribeetle as Baldrick - and honestly I’m going to need them to get onto a tv production of this.

Gav is always panicking (relatable) and very much out of his depth (also relatable) He also has magic (enviable) but as he slowly discovers, The Dread Lord Gavrax seemingly has little in common with Gav, and maybe not as competent as Gav had hoped.

With a princess in his dungeon, a goblin house hold, and a garlic festival, Gav tumbles head on into essentially a dark Lord convention, and these were the really scary ones.

Orla, this book has a million reasons to read it but Orla is one of my fave. Competent, honest, and bizarre. Goblin cook in a frilly apron. Please just read this I can’t explain how much I enjoyed it properly 🐙

While this book can be considered as instructions , I wouldn’t recommend following it as one - she really isn’t joking about the die trying.

Absolutely dripping in acerbic sarcasm and wit, this book is both light hearted and very grimdark. I did feel at times that it was trying to convince me that it was a really tough adult book by using all the bad words and scenes. There are some great jokes and the character development is a treat once it starts. This is a fantasy world where the chosen one has been ripped from our world to save theirs. Only she’s tried doing what’s expected and now she’s pissed.

The beginning it didn’t quite meet the expectations I had from the awesome title. But the storyline itself definitely improves and I am very interested to see where book two goes !

This book is super addictive. Set in a magical Elizabethan (I) London, where the busy underground is definitely not the same as the one we know. Okay, maybe not too different - it is as hot as hell down there.

Humanity and the supernatural sit at an uneasy peace in London. Whilst immortals do roam the streets of human upper London, there are laws that they must abide. Humans on the other hand don't tend to last long in lower London - there are still laws its just always open season.

With this tenuous balance, immortality is not the blessing that mysterious Fang wants to wake up from death to. Lazare is more just inconvenienced. With the help of Fangs savant alchemist contact, chased by a dark past, a few London gangs, and an angry goose - Fang and Lazare race figure out what's going on and who is trying to take them out.

Oh and I haven't had the chance to mention the star of the show, Amber. A dragon who is mighty of heart and stomach. A dragon who is completely adorable. A dragon who despite failing courage manages to save their asses now and then.
