This was such a ride! Kat is an Avid, having a special ability, and is owned by a man named Marco. He rescued her from a worse situation, but a gilded prison is still a prison. When she meets a handsome stranger in the park she doesn't dare to hope for the freedom to actually get to know him.

When Marco takes her to investigate the murder of someone in his family, Kat learns that the handsome stranger is in fact Marco's son. What else is he lying about? What else is he hiding from her? And why are the dead avoiding her, despite it being her power?

This was full of twists and turns, and even though I thought I had it figured out at the end I did not expect that reveal! I need the next one!

This was so perfectly twisted and dark, I couldn't put it down. Taking the age old story of Gatsby and putting a nice twist on it, but we have Nick Carraway taking us through his paper soldier existence. Not truly Nick, but not truly not Nick either. He has observed the world change before him for years, but by chance he sees a familiar face that he thought was long gone.

Unable to give up the longing and want of the last, Nick let's himself chase Gatsby once again, reaching for one moment of authenticity from the man who consumed his soul for so long. This was so, so well done. Raw, and on point to target our deepest desires as a reader, questioning what we really want and who we really are.

This was an intentionally woven story about a prophecy coming to light. This was such a great ride, and I can't wait for book two! Aurelia is human, but shes seeing and hearing things she shouldn't. Andar is betrothed to future queen in his world, yet he doesn't feel the spark he should.

Through chance, magic, and fate, our friends stumble their way across worlds to find each other, and the answers they seek to fulfill the prophecy. Others are found that feel like the bond between the prophetic couple should, and everything they know is thrown into question.

Forced to make a deal with Death, Khana fights to survive as she hides from the emperor who has traumatized her for years. She's finally in a place where she feels she's contributing to the fight against the immortal empire, and she's learning to protect herself in the process. She's made friends and is healing as much as she can while fearing for her life.

I love the healing that happens with Khana. She finally has people to lean on and to give her advice, and share thoughts and plans with. She can save them, despite the fact that most want her dead. Her entire unit seems to be in a similar position, and they end up being a wonderful found family in the midst of war and chaos.

This was an incredibly intracate story of loyalty, duty, and legacy. Shakti has been forced to watch her people die, and when it's someone closer to her, she decides that enough is enough. Releasing a curse upon the emperor goes further than expected, and the empire is thrown into turmoil with the three royal siblings squabbling over power.

Ashoka is the youngest son of the late emperor, and he's working to move past his father's reign and create something better. But there are many obstacles standing in his way, including his siblings. Unknowingly, Ashoka and Shakti have been working towards the same goal - saving the mayakari people from being killed.

They've entered into a complex political game with not only the power of an empire, but the power of the nature spirits as well. Ashoka is left with a letter that will change their fate depending on his response, and I cannot wait for th next part of this story!

This was so much more than I ever expected. Rylee is just trying to find her sister, so she sneaks into the Choosing, never expecting to be considered as a real choice. But now she finds herself in a position where she needs to win over all four of the Legends, and hide deadly secrets along the way.

This was a spectacular show of strength and determination, and as she spends time with each of the princes, she finds that she's falling for them as much as they are for her. But will she be able to convince the last prince that she's worth it? Despite their initial spark, he seems to hate her now, and she's got her work cut out for her. But she quickly learns that the four princes are not what they seem.

An amazing end to this series! Ive loved the entire Bandits journey, and ending with Xavier and Viv was such a great way to do it. Xavier is a single dad, left by the baby's mom shortly after her birth. He's making it work the best he can, but it's too much for one person.

With an amazing team and their wives and girlfriends, he's got a phenomenal support structure, but is still looking for a nanny when Viv's neice is looking for a job. Of course, that means more time with Viv, which Xavier isn't sad about.

They end up in a situation where they're both benefitting, and yet both are afraid of wanting or needing more. But soon they both realize that more has snuck up on them, and they need to figure out what happens next.

Calaena is searching for answers, hoping to get a handle on her powers and figure out the Wyrd stones. All the while she intends to hide the fact that she's the lost heir of Terrasen, which doesn't last long when she's met with one of her aunt's warriors.

Rowan is exactly what Calaena expected, and nothing like it at the same time. Quiet and brooding, but ruthless and fierce, he forces her to come to terms with her power and how to access and hone it. Meanwhile, Chaol and Dorian are dealing with their own issues back home, including Aedion, Calaena's cousin.

Secret alliances, friendships, and movements for a rebellion are stirring in Andarlan, and of course, those three are at the heart of it. Meanwhile we see Manon fighting for power and prowess with her wyvern and The Thirteen, fierce ironteeth witches and warriors that the king has brought to serve him. Unexpected allies are found, yet more secrets remain. Will they be able to stop what the king is doing? Can they? Can Aelin?

I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but I gave it a try, and I was shocked by how much I really, really liked it. I could not put it down. Beauty and the Beast but make it stalkery and violent and sexy.

Everleigh is a historian, obsessed with historical artifacts and items, making it her lifes work to catalog, discover, and learn. And the God of Art uses this to trap her in his own twisted exhibit. Using her for his own artistic development, but also to show his mastery of the artistic form, Acheron let's his obsession with his muse consume him.

But someone else wants what's his, and he'll fight tooth and nail to keep her to himself. As Acheron continues to mold Everleigh into his own human masterpiece, she realizes that her heart has been molded too. But it's wrong...right??

The snarky inner monologue for Everleigh brought just enough levity to balance out the darkness of this, and was honestly one of my favorite parts of the whole book. Surprisingly one of the best I've read in a while!

I always love Ari's books, because she has such a beautiful way of addressing the whole person of each of her characters. They aren't complete without each other, even if things are fine and ok before they take the dive, and it's such a deep and emotional thing to watch unfold in each of her books.

This one wasn't any different - Ivy has been working as a maid at the palace for a while now, wishing that Asher would notice her as the girl he used to know. That Dair would see her for who she is, and that Bast could see more than friendship. She's content being around them, even if she doesn't quite understand why.

When a visiting omega takes matters into her own hands to give Ivy a much needed, and unrealized, nudge, everything spirals, awakening her omega. The one she never knew she had because she'd always been a beta. As she navigates her true designation, each of her Alphas realize just how much they were missing before her. They care for her and make her realize what she was missing too, what she dared to dream for.
