So, real talk? I felt like all the pieces were there to make some magic happen but didn’t click together at all. (Trust me, I’m incredibly sad I didn’t “love-love” this one.) The writing was…kind of boring and a little nonsensical, even with all the worldbuilding elements created. I remember, at 42%, thinking that I wasn’t all that invested and didn’t need to know the ending. *Insert sad face.* And there were several times I had to flip back pages because I was confused where the plot had re-routed to. All in all, what I loved most, was the secondary characters . That is where the book came alive and the reason I ended up landing on 3 stars.

"It was the urge that a dog had to nose the same old beehive, forgetting the fact that it had been stung before."
I'm not 100% sure I get all the hype. I pushed through and finished it - mainly because I was in that "need to know" mindset but didn't really enjoy this one. It was uncomfortable, nauseating, and...dense. But maybe that's the magic of it for some people? I am a dark academia girl through and through but this one wasn't my cup of Fairy-King-tea sadly, even as much as I hoped it would be.☕

3 1/2 stars — fun read but I never got super “into it.” Liked it enough to want to watch the movie though, so still enjoyable.
