I can always appreciate a cheesy romance novel. I didn't think it was as good as the first book but it still had me hooked.
Dossier Dutroux by Jean Lambrecks, Els Schreurs, Jean-Pierre Adam

I received a copy of this book to do an honest review. So here it goes.
Take a spoon of love, add a pinch of fake friends and some drama and mix it with some serious topics and you get Not always Blu Skyes.
I’m not going into what the book is about because this book honestly spoke to me by its cover. I liked not knowing what it was about before reading the book.
I read this book in a day and I really enjoyed reading it. At times I did feel like the book was just going on about the same thing and it got a bit boring but I got pulled back into it again.
What I really liked about this book is that I could relate to it, the main character has some mental health issues and I think over all she has a very relatable personality. I mean who never felt lonely in a room full of people? This book describes how she deals with those issues and she comes to conclusions I wish I knew at that age. I think you can really get some life lessons out of this book and I wished this was out when I was still in high school.
This book deals with mental health like I mentioned before and I think it does a fine job at describing how it feels for some people without overhyping it and letting people think that love can solve your problems.
I did predict the plot twists and the ending of the book pretty soon into it, but maybe that’s just because I read too many cliché love stories. (I think I might have an obsession with them. OOPS)
So if you’re up for a cliché love story that is easy to read please pick up this book. If you need more reason to, let me tell you that I enjoyed it so much that I’m thinking about buying myself a paperback copy if it ever comes out!
Snakes and Lovers by Anne Lovett

I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The main character is Daisy, she works in a bar as a ‘beach bum’. One of her neighbors goes missing leaving her with a snake and her kid named Raj. In the meantime she has to go home again to Sawyer to repair her parents’ marriage while having to confront her first boyfriend Luke who betrayed her.
due to circumstances she has to go on a road trip with Luke, Raj and the snake, searching for her father and raj’s mother.
I’m honestly not sure if I liked this book or not. Let me start by saying what I didn’t like.
This book is categorized as a romance novel, but I didn’t like the romance. This book is more about heartbreak and ex-husbands/wives than it is about romance. The romance part between the two main characters was rushed. Also, I’m going to be honest. I don’t ship them. I can’t stand the behavior of Luke. He’s making important decision’s for her not even caring about her opinion or what she wants. Trying to influence her opinion.
I thought this book was quite difficult to get into as well. I’m not sure if it’s because I can’t really relate or if it was the writing style.
The ending was rushed as well. I really got into it the last 50 pages and the ending disappointed me.
What I did like about the book was that it wasn’t that predictable. I mean of course romances are always predictable but I got surprised by some things.
The main thing I liked is Daisy and her feminism. She’s not depending on men, she’s taking care of her own and showing that she doesn’t need anyone. She has this idea about being independent and free.
Still I think some people will love this book. I give it a 3 stars, because besides what I didn’t like I still sort of enjoyed reading it, especially near the end.

A historical romance novel that makes you forget time the moment you start reading it.
I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book follows the story of Delilah Hart and Fraser Macgregor. Delilah is a very likable character. Her ideas are ahead of time, she’s a feminist who believes in equality and has a very strong personality. Fraser is a Scottish duke who is trying to further his whisky business in London where he meets Delilah. He’s immediately attracted to her but there are some obstacles in their way. He makes a deal with her, he learns her about pleasure and she teaches him about social justice and equality.
This was the first historical novel I have ever read and I have so many regrets of not reading them earlier. I was sceptical that I wouldn’t be able to really get into the story because it’s not really relatable but I was wrong. The moment I opened this book I couldn’t let it go. Not one time while reading this book was I getting bored. I think this is an easy read and I definitely recommend it (You need to be able to stand the passionate scene’s though).
I can’t compare it to other historical novels but if you’re thinking about reading a historical romance novel but you don’t know if it’s for you. I recommend reading it.
And I’m so excited to read the sequel when it comes out.

I got a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. So here we go. I give this book 3 and a half stars.

This book is about Kylie, a young girl who just finished high school and is looking forward to going to university. Her family is loaded with money but one day the FBI comes in and freezes all their accounts and takes everything away. This wile her dad is nowhere to be found. They’ve got no place to live so her mom decides to go back to her hometown to live in the house of her grandmother. For Kylie this is a hell because of the lifestyle she’s used to.

I was curious about this book because 1) the cover really spoke to me as well as the title. 2) The description of the book. But while reading it I was oh so frustrated.
First of all the main character Kylie is a spoiled, egocentric brat who thinks she’s the hottest girl on earth and uses her looks to get what she wants. I had no pity for her of suddenly living a poor life because her behaviour was over the top.
second of all, she uses what’s happening to her to justify her behaviour. No you can’t drink and do stupid things and say it’s because of what’s happening. No you can’t snap at people who are trying their best to help you because suddenly you’re poor.
Also. This book is so anti LGBTQ+ little spoiler but: saying “are you sure” “maybe you’re confused” “do you want to be fwb’s” to somebody you know is gay is not okay!

The other characters are really likable and they’ve got depth as well which I really like. For example her little sister is my favourite character in the book.
I liked the ending of the book. They did leave some plots unattended which sort of bothers me but I’ll get over it.
I think the writing style was okay, it was an easy read but you’ve got to be able to handle the main character’s poor behaviour to actually enjoy the book although like I said she does get better. This book is a coming of age cheesy romance novel with some mystery in it.

So, I finally finished this book. I got a copy in exchange for an honest review so here we go.
I want to start by saying that this book can be triggering. So please if you are triggered by sexual assault, alcoholism, anger issues, etc. don’t read this book.
This book made me feel so many emotions. I have to say at one point I was on the edge of giving up because it got too much for me. But I decided to continue and I’m glad I did.
I don’t want to say too much about the story because then I give away the plot so if you want to read it let it surprise you but be aware of the trigger warning.
This book is full of unexpected plot twists and the story although it’s heavy is definitely worth reading. I know I will read the second book in the series because I want to know how their story continues.
