Night Road by Kristin Hannah

This is not based on the whole book. I swear, I couldn't get past around 100 pages. Maybe it was because the copy of the book I was reading wasn't mine Maybe because the utterly stereotypical girl's-best-friend-falls-for-her-brother sort deal they had going on. Or it could possibly be the four year time gap.
The list goes on and on.
Either way, I gave up on it. Maybe one day I'll read it again and actually make progress, but until such a time, no.

Incarceron by Catherine Fisher

Timely. Advanced. Dark. Mysterious. Shifting. All very good words to describe Incarceron (book and prison). I really admired the main character, Finn. He was a refreshing dose of humanity in the Prison. Keiro, Attia, everyone had a feral feel to them, even in their times of weakness. Even whenever they bared themselves to others, they were still guarded, constantly fighting for survival. Finn was like that on the surface, I noticed. Underneath, I could see why they called him the Starseer. He felt guilt, compassion, doubt, fear, and openly showed it. I guess that's what made him and Kiero such good oathbrothers; one was exactly what the other wasn't.
Onward to our leading lady, Claudia. I had my moments of pure frustration with her. Personally, I never understood her desperation to find Giles. She often repeats that they were betrothed and that she had liked him when he was alive, BUT not once does she mention if she had any deeper feelings for Giles. If she had, I would have understood her strong desire to find him much more. But she talked about him like a neighborhood friend who had moved away one day and never called. But she was bold, cunning, brave, and defiant, all qualities that I appreciate in a heroine.
I could go on and on and on about the book, believe me. But for anyone who happens to be bored enough to even read this review, I apologize. I must now depart. All in all, excellent read, if a little slow to begin with.

I loved this book. I found the hopeless love struggle to be sweet, sad, and touching. The plot was very original and creative. Plus...I JUST LOVED ETHAN AND LENA! I thought they were freaking adorable together. The ending (cemetary scene) was twisted and nerve wracking. It was great.

I am typing this literally moments after I finished the book, an I am still crying my eyes out. You would have to be a heartless monster from the Far Keep not to feel heart wrenching sadness at the end of this book, and not just for the events. But for the end. I'm serious, I felt a huge wave of sadness when I read "Here Endeth The Caster Chronicles". I mean I am WEEPING right now for God's sake!!!
Beautiful Redemption. Such a fitting title, because everyone was redeemed in this book. Places were set, hearts were mended (and broken a little again) and I...I...I just can't even.

In my opinion, this was a whole heap of amazing! I love the whole concept of combining all these different myths and monsters and stories. It's creative and different. I also enjoyed a decent amount of character development. For example, Josh an Sophie were both a little whiney in my opinion in The Alchemist. Now they are amazing! Once Sophie has control of her newly Awakened powers? She does some seriously amazing tricks. And josh was a bad ass with Clarent, excuse my French. Also the two new characters- Francis and Joan- were lovely additions. They had complex, if a little stereotypical, personalities. And, I kid you not, I loved Niccolo. I know, I know, evil and stuff but he was a perfect personification of it, with just the right amount of cunning and yet he was decent and humane. I can't wait I get my hands on the next one.

I really liked this book. I thought the description was my favorite part, the detail given in writing the scenery was beautiful. I could practically see it all in my minds eye. Especially Eden.
However, I found Kate a lot more difficult to deal with. There were times that she was so whiney, depressed, an clueless that u would have loved for some to slap some sense into her instead of talking. Despite the fact that Kate irritated me, Persephone made me downright livid at times. She was so shallow and selfish at times, it made me sick. The way she toyed with Henry, broke his heart, all jut to prove a point. It worked, sure, but it was defiantly heartless. Ladies and gentlemen, the bitch of the day.
I did gain some respect for her later on, around the same time that the book took an enormous upturn that made me so happy with it. Just one thing ruined that ending for me: THAT DAMN CLIFFHANGER! I need the next book and soon.
Don't read this if you are expecting traditional Greek mythology. If anything, the only thing that correct as far as I can tell is the family tree. In fact, not a lot of mythology is even mentioned past family stories.
The only thee thing I have to say is that a per peeve of mine was that Cronos was spelled with a C and not a K. Other than my other critiques, it was lovely.

First of all, I have to thank Esmeralda for recommending this to me. It was amazing! I love Sage, he was so cunning and mischievous, it was a great personality and done so well . It was nice to have a main character who was intentionally annoying and frustrating and stubborn, then turn right around and you realize that it all has a reason behind it. He's not just some arrogant kid, he has meaning and motives and all for the greater good otherwise. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book; if it's anything like this one it will be well worth it.

I never even guessed that he was really Jaron. That caught me completely by surprise.

Oh that was a magnificent sequel! I loved it! The perfect combination of terror, romance, and supernatural. All in a YA novel.
It was beautifully written, the characters were flawless and more than once the hai rose on the back of my neck. Jude is a great antagonist. His sick mind warps everything into some kind if justification for torturing Mara. It was blood curdling and spine tingling and everything in between. And that HUGE plot twist at the end? It felt like Horizons should have been in a Scream movie. I recommend The Evolution of Mara Dyer to anyone who likes a good thrill or a good creep-out sesh.

The ending was incredible. Normally cliff hangers drive me crazy, but that was perfect. However, events leaving up to it from the time that Ivy helps Guy leave the hospital got frustratingly slow an repetitive. Ivy hang out with Guy, Will and Beth get angry, threats and warnings that Ivy ignores, Tristan comes up somewhere in the conversation, recycle repeat. Don't get me wrong, I love the book. I just wish that there had been more of the mystery I had seen in the previous book.

I want to cry, but the shock won't let me. I can't even speak correct English right now. It was so intensely good that my teeth hurt from grinding them so hard. I'm just going to crawl under a rock, hug the book, finally cry (a lot), and then I'm going to die, and then revive so I can read the next one.
