This book was definitely a page turner from the beginning!! Just when you think you know what’s going on, BOOM! A plot twist you didn’t see coming. I haven’t started the second book yet, but I really wanted to know more about Andrew’s past. Obviously he turned out this way because of his mother. And she probably turned out that way from one of her parental figures. The ending was not one I expected. I can’t believe he died!! He deserves everything he got. And I’m happy Nina finally escaped. At first I hated her, but now I see how strong she is. I’m hoping the second book is as much of a page turner as this one was.

This book had me morally challenged. Of course pedos should be castrated and burned alive, but Lucinda wrote Noah so innocently. The book was a bit of a drag. If not setting time to read, I probably wouldn't have finished this book. But luckily for me, it was a short read. Lucinda Berry is an author I definitely enjoy, this book just didn't hit for me. However, I did very much cry at the end. What the mom did for her son...

NOT FOR THE WEAK.

The reason I started this book is because people on tiktok were raving about how awful the book is and how people couldn't make it through page 40. I made it a personal mission to read books people say are too dark and they couldn't finish. Now when I got to page 37 and on, I kept putting my kindle down. My god this man is a GOD at descriptive writing. So much so that I was getting nauseous reading those pages. He is absolutely amazing at describing the most disgusting and horrific scenes/descriptive. The book wasn't bad. However, after so many "levels" of the playground, I started getting bored. I was 74% finished and was debating on not finishing it or powering through. I decided to finish it, and I am kind of glad I did because CJ didn't make it and I was rooting for him. It made me sad when he died. I am also glad because it had a semi-happy ending. Rock was finally free and the remaining parents/children were freed. I hope that Donnie will live a happy life with Tom and Molly. He really deserves it.
A Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne

(Before my review, I'd like to state that this book is 18+!! As is this review.

First off, let me say how much I loved this book!! It was a little borderline cliche only because it followed a kidnapper/stockholm syndrome trope. However, the author wrote this story so beautifully that I didn't really mind it! I love fantasy and romance. Even more, I love me some smut!! This book has so many smutty and delicious scenes. It got to a point where I could only read this book at home because MY GOD it was that good!! Unfortunately, I have discovered something about myself from reading this book. Thanks to Opal Reyne, I now know I am a monster f*cker. Not only that, much like Reia, I FELT for Orpheus. He's so goddamn sweet and blissfully ignorant. I definitely grew attach to this character she created. In the beginning, every time Reia wanted to leave, I was screaming at her not to.

The only downside to this book was the end. It was abrupt that Reia got kidnapped and it was revealed that Katherine was wanting to kill Orpheus. I feel like there could have been more. It was over with too quickly. As was the book. I mean, Reia gives him her soul as she's dying, then becomes a phantom, and then the book is over. I would have LOVED a book two continuing on with their story.

Overall, I loved this book and how smutty it was.
