Why did I keep thinking about the Talented Mr. Ripley when I read this. No seriously why? I’ve never read this author before and was so lost. She has created a story within a story and I have no idea what is real or what even happened. I read a review that said they know they are going to be confused when they read this author but at the end it all comes together. Ummmm I still have no clue how it ended. Another review said if you are confused through 80 percent of the book you are doing perfect. So I killed this book. I finished it and looked up and said what the heck just happened. My husband said you should know you read it….and while I did read it I’m just not sure. Yet I can say it’s really good! It’s one of those that now I’ve read the whole thing I need to read it again. It’s a very moving story that will continue to haunt you after you have finished. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. Her writing style is definitely unique and  different from anything I have ever read but it’s for sure a style I enjoyed it and want to read again. My only complaint is there are really no chapters. I need chapters. It’s like checking off a chore on your list.

There are a lot of characters to keep up and we all know I struggle with that. There is Cassidy, Amaya, Clara, Grace, Olivia, Joshua, Ian, Hollis, Brody, Russ and the dead people. It’s just overwhelming. But this book is a decent whodunit mystery. The book begs the question in a room full of people who do you save? As Cassidy looks around she analyzes each of her friends and decides who is worth saving. But in the end don’t we always just save ourself? It’s not one of my favorite reads this year but it’s okay. I struggle with Megan Miranda books but I always read them. The book is a little long and at times you just want things wrapped up. The twist is anti climatic and it’s fairly predictable. It just didn’t quite hold my attention how I would have liked. Sometimes there can just be too many characters and usually when that happens there is no character development and you don’t make a connection with anyone. So who do you save? You save whoever you can.

A Nearly Normal Family by this author is one of my all time favorite books so I couldn’t wait to read this! The book starts with the murder of a wealthy husband and wife. It’s definitely giving Verity vibes but with a lot more players. The author did a fantastic job of weaving all these characters lives together in ways you couldn’t imagine. It’s very character driven and I thought there was good character development. It’s twisty, manipulating, surprising, captivating and I very much appreciated the short chapters. The story is told from Bill, Karla and Jennica’s point of view as well as the police interrogations. You are going to find that you will not know who or what to believe. I actually wrote in my notes near the end, “I have no clue what’s going on!” The ending was perfect! It’s a great book and a quick read. This book will be in my top 10 easy for 2023.

The description of the book says it’s impossible to look away from and it really is. I can’t say it’s that great but I kept reading. This story will draw you along. Something about it just draws you in and before you know it you’ve finished reading it. It’s a very simple story about survival and doing what it takes to get by day by day. I wish I could better explain how it feels to read this book…..the atmosphere it creates. You will feel like Alex just trying to survive each moment of each day and not really feeling anything. It’s not even 200 pages so it’s a quick read. I will say the whole phone charging thing wore thin. Was the phone broke or not? And the ending. I would love to discuss but then it would be a spoiler.

This is a fast easy read. It has a great storyline but it wasn’t developed enough. What made Aidan do what he did? We know absolutely nothing about him. He’s a great father but oh by the way a serial killer on the side. I can’t say I cared that much for Cecilia. I don’t see how no one picked up on the fact that Rachel was being held against her will. The story was told from different POV which I did really enjoy. It just would have been better if there was more of a back story. And it’s hard to understand how when she was free and could have ran and she didn’t. All of that said it still was a good book and worth your time.

I don’t even know what to say about this book. This story is crazy!! This is another book that I feel like a different title would have suited it better. It’s honestly not really about selling a house. It should have been called the March of Puppets or When Puppets Attack. This is The Shining, Chucky, and Toy Story all wrapped into one. When I first started reading it, it really didn’t seem that bad. But it takes a quick 360 and becomes a bloodbath. I’ve never. I don’t read a lot of horror so I was stunned. It is definitely a creepy book and will make you want to get rid of any dolls or stuffed animals. I felt like it was a little too drawn out. The whole section of Mark talking about his college days bored me somewhat. I think that part could have been considerably shorter. I did like the progression of Mark and Louise’s relationship. The author did a good job of showing their differences and then bringing them together after learning what each had dealt with as children in the same household. This book is definitely what nightmares are made of. If you love Horror books then you are going to love this one.

I liked this book. It wasn’t a great read but it was good. I read it in two days and was invested enough that I had to know what happened. I can’t say I liked the characters all that much. I got frustrated with Kira a lot. Her mom wrote a memoir and instead of just sitting down and reading it she kept reading a chapter and then leaving. Then rushing back to read another chapter. Girl, sit down and read it already. I also didn’t like the cheesy texts that were sent threatening her. I’ve never been threatened but surely there was something to say that would be more menacing. Also people often had information to tell Kira about her mother but just not right now….I’ll tell you later. Very frustrating. But all that said it was still a pretty good whodunit. I requested this book because I thought I liked May Cobb. After I read it I looked up what I had read by her which was The Hunting Wives and I didn’t like it all. I’m glad I didn’t know that beforehand because I probably wouldn’t have read it and honestly this book is a solid read.

This book had me in the first paragraph. I freaking loved it!!! I am probably the last person to read it but oh my-lanta was it my kind of my book. I loved the humor, the sarcasm, the everything. It’s unlike anything I have ever read before. The way the author tells this story and weaves it all together is genius. The police interviews are the absolute best. This has to be one of my top 10 reads this year. I adored each one of the characters and they were so relatable. I couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter to see what happened next. It’s definitely a book I got lost in. It does have twists but even more so it’s a fun book. I cannot recommend this book enough! This is a book that makes reading exciting and I don’t think my vocabulary is large enough to express how much I enjoyed it. It’s witty, quirky, funny, tragic, sad, entertaining, all with a dark sense of humor. It’s a book that I would love to read again. I will say the ending was dragged out but you’ll love it so much you won’t care.

I’m not going to lie I am finding it hard to review a non-fiction book. This book is very straight forward. The story is told in a very matter-of-fact way. There are some bits of information that I’m not sure why it was added. Some things just didn’t add to what happened. I live only an hour away from this town which was why I was interested in reading the book. It is an older book and when reading it you’ll feel it was written that way. I can’t say I got caught up in the way he told the story but it’s a true story so it was just the facts. The crime itself is very gruesome and leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

I requested this book on Libby before I read In My Dreams I Hold A Knife or I probably would have never requested it. (If you’ll remember I didn’t like it at all.) While this book is better it’s still not that great. I just don’t enjoy this author. Honestly I felt like this was a cross between a bad soap opera and a YA book. I wanted to quit several times but I was intrigued enough to want to know the ending. I didn’t find the characters relatable at all. I didn’t like Shay which didn’t help. The only person I did like was Jamie the podcaster.
