I was hopeful that this book would be everything I had read about it in the reviews online. It definitely has good bones, but it doesn’t leave me wanting for more. It had a very juvenile writing style to it, and while the protagonist is a juvenile and you’d think that would add something more to the story, it lacked the ability to hold my interest.

Buried deep inside the narrator’s ramblings, there are some thought-provoking insights as to what it is like to be the minority in a world that sees differences as taboo. It does have some good points, but you have to be open to searching for them.

Not a horrible read, but definitely not my favorite book either. The entire time I was reading, I was wondering how long I had left until I was finished and could pick up something else. Kind of disappointed.

Heartbreaking memoir, but truthful and blunt in its honesty. I enjoyed the story within the story detail. I enjoyed the momentary inserts into the writer’s brain and experiences. I appreciate the background as well. This is an important story for every generation.

This is a great thriller/mystery story. It is a book that will make you feel all the emotions. Not usually my genre, but I was pulled in deep right from the beginning. The backstory is excellently written; no stone left unturned. I like that the female protagonist was relatable, too. She seemed real and spoke like normal, everyday people do. The author helped us to feel like we were inside her head. You could see the gears turning. I rate this an 8/10. That’s high on my rating scale! I only do this because I started to get bored about 3/4 way through the story. It seemed to lull for a moment and there were some parts that seem very predictable, especially when a plot twist was nearing the bend. Overall, a very satisfying and enjoyable read!

Literally could not put this book down. I finished it in one day (15 hours to be accurate) as I could not pull myself away from it. The story is so good and seeing all the connections between the different people was incredible. It reminds you of how delicate life is and how little time we really have-how important it is to live your life right while you can and make every moment matter. If you want to cry, no- sob- and dive deep into a book that makes you question your own existence.. this is the one!
