The Red Cross Orphans by Glynis Peters

This is a good read that centers around Kitty, a young woman who offers herself up in service of the Red Cross as a nursing trainee during WWII. The story centers around her trials and tribulations working through her training towards being a nurse. Kitty meets a doctor during her time training and a romance begins. The story is good, but I felt like the romance became the main story and there was so much more to the WWII/Red cross nursing side of the story. It was a very good story otherwise- I still enjoyed the read -and I would still recommend it to others.

This book was hard for me to get through initially because all Ove does is complain and moan about life. People, places, things all made him grumpier, if that was even possible. I hated that half the book was negativity. I decided to push through and finish to see how it ended, hoping it would get better, but not really expecting anything more out of it. I had spent so much time reading it at this point, that I figured I old it to myself to at least finish it. To my absolute surprise, the book took a wide turn and started showing another side to the grumpy old man. By the end of the book, my heart aches for him. The ending was well-written and I ended up deciding that I actually liked the book. I definitely can understand why it was written the way it was originally now.

This book was amazing. I started reading a while back but got busy and had to put it down. I restarted it about a week ago and have not been able to put it down this time. Such a beautiful story.

As close as accurate to the tale as possible, but I feel like it ended so quickly. I barely knew what was going on.

My children (12 and 13) both asked me to read this with them. This book was written well and my inner child loved it. It is heartbreaking and funny and so good.

This book BLEW MY MIND. The twists and turns it took were insane. It does have a little bit of spice so heads up to those who avoid that, but what does a little spice hurt?

Heads up—— a lot of info about/surrounds the issue of infertility and miscarriage- so if you’re sensitive to those topics, please avoid or be careful. But this book is incredible and makes you feel what the main character feels. Hoover always draws you in and captures you there.
