I don't think I understood as much of this as I did The Stranger! Still though, I got something from it and that's what matters.

I liked the format of having short stories about all different kinds of people, different themes, different locations, were used to build this bigger picture of a world that has been completely changed by this plague. We see it from the start way up to many generations after a cure has been developed. How it still is affecting families, neighborhoods, humanity as a whole. It's very reflective of I think the human experience as a whole.
On top of that, a lot of the stories I found to be very good. In particular the one about the mother and her dying son at the theme park, a scientist having to watch her friend decompose as an experiment as she writes letter to his still living sister as if she is writing to the deceased brother, and the story of a man working with a dying woman to try and preserve her tattoos after she passes really stuck with me. Such a unique book and yet so, so human.

This book was incredible. I didn't expect to connect to it as much as I did but wow. I definitely think I'll have to read this one a few times over sooner rather than later

Not my favorite, honestly but it was a fun read! I went into it not knowing anything and it wasn't as dark as I assumed but it was fun! It would make a great limited series

This book is really well written and the story is so complex in a way that is very thought provoking. Though it's set it the late 90s, a lot of the issues in this book (classism, nature vs nurture, culture, abortion) are still so relevant. I think everyone can see parts of themselves in all the characters.

So different from the show. A lot more bleak and filled with dread.

Man this book is incredible. King has such a way of writing dread in a way that it's so real and alive. This book is definitely one of if not his best entirely. Really really liked this one.
I love the element of mystery with the orgin of the burial ground too. It's left open to however the reader wants to think of it and I think that makes it even more haunting.

This is crazy good for a debut novel. The writing is so engaging and colorful and the story it's telling is I think a type of one that is not often told.

They mention fanfiction WAY too much in this book but it was enjoyable anyways. Oseman's writing is simple and yet it really makes the adolescent characters seem more real that way. I do appreciate the aroace representation as well. As someone who is asexual and does struggle loving that part of myself, I found Georgia to be relatable in that way.

Man, Steinbeck's writing is so gorgeous. This one is very different from his others in that not much really happens. It's a reflection on the lives of these characters that live in this struggling area of town. Encompassing human loneliness and community at the same time.
