Fast, easy read. The twist was… okay. Slow-paced until the end when Cady figures out what happens

Beautiful book cover! This is good for people who enjoyed Before the Coffee Gets Cold. As I recently rediscovered reading the joys of getting through a book was lovely to read about. Characters were okay, just not a big fan of the “nothing would’ve happened if u just said how u feel”, but there is beauty in characters being flawed like that

Great spontaneous quick read from browsing in the library. Galatea is what 17-year old me would have wanted after reading George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion.

Whoa. Bunny gives Mean Girls but on another level of unhinged and intensity. If you were to plot a graph of the times I said to myself "what the fuck is going on" against the page numbers of the books, it would be an exponential curve. I think the beauty in this story is that you learn to process the plot with more questions than answers (But how many questions is too many questions? LOL), but also understand that this is about loneliness and the artistic process and grief. I think the ride was largely enjoyable, I wasn't really excited about the story in Part One. I also felt that Samantha's perspective of Ava was at times not very convincing, but then again it works well as part of the plot development.

Cool animal symbolism. I'd be hyped to see this as an A24 film and the letterboxd reviews saying this is the perfect movie for when you're high.

Gives me similar vibes to Only Murders in the Building. Tone is somewhat whimsical, though not without its solemn moments. Centering the story around old people lets the story deal with aspects of death you don't really associate a murder with, and i think that stood out to me. my only gripe is that this is so unrealistic LOL the police are useless

another hype well deserved. ms madeline miller's writing is my ambrosia and nectar. the start of the book was slow but quickly picked up as time in the book passed and the central characters started growing up. I found myself wanting to pick up the book more halfway through. i have a soft spot for retellings written in the perspective of the "underdog"/minor characters, and Patroclus proved to be a very effective protagonist given the mystery surrounding him historically. this is, in its essence, a love story, but i also liked how accessible this book is for an introduction into the battle of Troy.

the hype is well-deserved. it's hard not to fall in love with evelyn hugo and her honest reflections. i found myself wanting to get past monique's pov in order to continue evelyn's story. the insertion of newspaper clippings between pages was fun, because reading tabloids is always fun LOL but this time you get to know what's behind the scenes
