“You would think a SecUnit who had been shot to pieces multiple times, blown up, memory purged, and once partially dismantled by accident wouldn’t be on the verge of panic under these circumstances. You’d be wrong.”
What a great sequel! I love the pacing and Martha has a way to keep me engaged and wanting to read more at all times.
Murderbot is so relatable to me and I love the way it analyses everything, is learning exactly how different it is from humans and navigates spaces where it needs to blend in.
The setbacks on Murderbot's journey were exciting and engaging. The way Murderbot deal wth the stupidity of humans, yet wants to protect them is so endearing. I absolutely loved the communications and teamwork between Murderbot and ART, I hope to ump into ART later in the series too!
The world is so interesting to me and I loved the way different species and entirely different pronouns were introduced and were used so easily and normally by Murderbot (as they should be). I really can't wait to read the next part!
I didn't stay very captivated this time and just didn't spark my joy of reading. Really want to try again another time, maybe when I'm in a better reading flow
Couldn't get into it right now, excited to read another day!

"I've pretended for my job for so long, and for my mom for so long, and now I'm starting to think I'm pretending for myself too."
Jennette seems to have been dealt quite an unfortunate hand of cards but she's learned to survive. And through surviving, finally taking care of herself first. I don't know her, apart from watching her when I was younger, but I'm SO proud of her for getting the help she needed. Facing and working through the painful feelings and experiences.
Jennette's writing kept me captivated and, surprisingly enough, very entertained when reading about the hardships she's been put through since her childhood. She's managed to express a heavy set of trauma in a hilarious AND heartbreaking way.
An incredibly difficult thing to come to terms with is realizing someone you love and adore wasn't actually that great. Another is learning how someone awful can still have good qualities and provide amazing memories.

Happy, sad, infuriating and reflective at the same time. I've really enjoyed both the book and the movie!
I loved and hated the characters, as one would with real people. The story gets you thinking what you'd do in a similar situation.
I loved the wittiness, especially between Will and Lou, but was glad there's also a lot of the realities of how sometimes you just don't have the energy for those vibes.
I hated how everyone was trying to control each other so much, while simultaneously telling the others not to control them, but that's also pretty realistic with people.
I'm happy with the ending, it's relieving, but also sad. I hope Paris treats her well.

Got the chance to read an ARC
"War is coming, and it will not confine itself to an hour."
Oh wow what a story! I need the next part ASAP! I could barely choose a quote for the review, there were SO MANY amazing ones.
I love the magic system of earning your magic and how they were tied in to the courts and the users themselves.
The twists were twisting so good and I was happy to have been suspicious of the right people.
I was so happy to see how strong Lysta grew, standing her ground and doing whatever she can. And the amounts of heartbreak I went through? ILLEGAL. 💔
Torryn is my type of broody guy, but damn I get frustrated when he won't tell things straight up (I swear he has his reasons BUT TELL ME YOUR REASONS ALREADY)

"The last few contracts had been like being an involuntary bystander in one of the entertainment feed's multi-partner relationship serials except I'd hated the whole cast."
I didn't think I'd relate to a Murderbot so much, but here I am wishing for the same simple things as it does.
I haven't read too much scifi before but this is a great introduction to the genre for me! I thoroughly enjoyed it being told from the prespective of the Murderbot and even though there was quite a lot of worldbuilding that needed to be done within such a short story, it didn't feel infodump-y at all.
I feel like the Murderbot stayed true to its character until the end and so did the humans!

"Effy was remembering all the curses that turned princesses back to peasant girls as soon as the bell struck twelve. Why was it always girls whose form could not be trusted? Everything could be taken away from them in an instant."
I think the quote really embodies the sadness and grief I experienced reading this 💔
I love Effy's growth during the book and just want her to have so much goodness in her future ♥️
My favorite part was probably Effy and Rhia's snarky conversations and the spider war 😂
The storm scenes were so well written and I could really see it playing out like a movie in my head! 🌧️
I personally would have preferred if Effy and Preston's relationship would've turned out more friends than lovers, but that's just me!

Moderate: Misogyny, Racism, Sexual harassment
Ididn't quite love this one as much as the previous two parts, but still enjoyed the ride!
There was a bit of repeating things that we were just reminded of, and that kind of annoyed me here for some reason.
I do love the character growth most of the characters have gone through during these books and I definitely will be checking out more!
