i got this book for the aesthetic and didn't realise that there would be like, a plot, so that was a pleasant surprise.

managed to finish reading this book during a very quiet night shift which was good because I really enjoyed this book. I think that my enjoyment of this was affected slightly by the fact that I saw the film last year, but luckily its been long enough that I forgot a lot of key plot points and twists. My only complaint is that I wish there were fewer characters and plot lines, as a lot of the time, I would be really invested in a plot, only to be pulled away to a character that I didn't care for as much. I really want to read the other two books though, I need to see what happens to Astrid and Rachel.

oof this book took me so long to finish. I loved the plot but I couldn't really stand any of the characters which is why it took me so long to finish, but I'm glad I did finish it, as the last quarter of the book was the bit I enjoyed the most (the actual heist and the aftermath), and I actually started to like Shirley by the end. I also like that as readers we were given enough clues to figure out that Harry was actually alive, it made me very excited lmao

I picked this up on a whim as something to do on the night shift and I have to say it was very engaging. I've been a fan of Anthony Horowitz for a while and forgotten how good he is at keeping you engaged as a reader. I also forgot how much I enjoy whodunit stories, and this definitely reminded me.

i read this book in one sitting and i forgot how much i like this book. i don't know the last time i read this book, but the receipt used as a bookmark suggests its been about 4 years. it's definitely been long enough that i forgot a lot of the major plot points.
i really like how strato is presented, because while he has a very pretentious way of talking, it kinda feels right for a thirteen year old boy that swallowed a thesaurus. i love the whole bits about the particle guns and the speed and light and relativity even though i am not competent enough to understand what strato is saying.
obviously im not really in a position to talk about race in this book, but man lott really seemed to nail the small town in the uk type of racism that strato seems too naive to really notice.
one thing i will say is that everyone in this story has a really weird name except for susan.
(also i realised this is where i recognised the "son discovers mother is writing an invasive book about said son behind his back for money" plot line from sex education. that had been bothering me okay?)

i did not enjoy this book at all. i thought the idea was interesting, of the dystopian utopia, but i couldn't stand any of the characters. if i could like any of the characters i would have rooted for them, but i just couldn't. winston only ever had two things on his mind: hating big brother and boobs, so i was glad when that dumbass got caught.
i am glad i was able to actually finish it tho.
