I’d never cried at a sex scene until this book.

I was initially drawn to this book because the synopsis was giving black mirror vibes. But while the premise was interesting i found myself getting tired as the book went along. Honestly, it wasn’t even the repetition of certain scenes that was exhausting, instead it was the fact that I felt like I couldn’t become invested in any of the characters. I would’ve preferred if the story wasn’t constantly shifting perspectives. I think the way it was styled felt more of a way to explore the world through different lenses but i think it just made the book weaker in some ways. Though this book ultimately wasn’t for me I would give this author another go because I liked the writing style.

The story itself is haunting and absolutely gruesome and it was successful in creating this dark and disturbing atmosphere. However this was quite a task to read and I couldn’t say it was the most enjoyable experience.

This is by no means a perfect book but I sure was charmed by it. When the book made the first jump to the present I was in disbelief, thinking how could they possibly be hung up on a whirlwind weekend romance? But then as the story progressed the story of their past kept unfolding and I began to see what they couldn’t leave in the past. Though it was still hard to fathom I found the story telling was extremely effective in helping the reader see how the public speculation of their speculation and work contributed to their own curiosity regarding one another. By the end of the book I could almost believe how the six days that they’d spent in total with one another was enough. Anyways, very pleased.
