Fall Into You by Caroline Frank

Golly gee, this was horrible. Absolutely gob-smackingly awful. To start, Liza and Max? Matt? Don't care, they're both terrible, annoying, underdeveloped characters. Their entire relationship (or at least 98% of it) is based on insta-love and hardcore trauma dumping. They are so out of touch with reality. I think there is a difference between knowing each other as friends of siblings for a long time before falling in love and literally falling in love after two dates. When they don't fucking have any sort of relationship prior. During these two weeks they also manage to break up fucking twice. I hate them so much. That's so fucking toxic.

The other 2% is hiding the whole dumpster fire from Vinny, Liza's overprotective and personality-lacking brother. I actually just don't fucking care. I hope Vinny punches Max-Matt in the face. I hope Liza gets trapped in an endless time loop and is forced to look at her disgusting personality every day and relive her horrifyingly imprudent life decisions over and over and over again until she slowly loses her mind, and when she does she has to watch herself losing her mind all over again, recorded and on repeat. How is an adult woman this much of a pre-teen child. She is a threat to herself and to society.

I think this is less about the book than about me/my own life experiences at this point. I'm still mad about this book tho. It's not good, and I don't see it getting any better. If it does I will be shocked. But I will also never know.

This was not as good as the other two books I've read of hers (Bride and The Love Hypothesis), but I still enjoyed it. I just really lowkey hated Bee, I thought she was just like the FMC from TLH but with even less of a personality.

I feel like Ali Hazelwood knows how to write exactly 3 characters. The first is a quirky, weird side character and there's always something about her to add a little diversity.
The second is a tall, smart, handsome white guy love interest with blue/green eyes and muscles for days.
The third is (I'm fully assuming this because I actually don't know her in real life) herself.

I appreciate it though, however, I do think the reason why I didn't love this as much as TLH is because this is the same book just slightly to the left and I read that one first so it's automatically better. I think reading a third one would be overkill and I will just flat out not like it. Like hearing the same joke 3x.

Also I hated the main villain,
the switch over was just too much and too sudden

Such a fun little story! I loved her relationships with her family and friends, the hometown return aspect. I didn't really understand why Ian was so obsessed with her, but I will accept it.

The fact that Henry and Claire met when she was 6 years old made me pretty uncomfortable throughout most of the novel; I found myself struggling to accept their relationship as, like, not weird and gross for pretty much most of the story. However, towards the end I was still feeling the reservation, however, I still empathized with the relationship. If that makes sense.

I found myself comparing this book to One Day by David Nicholls. Both are a sort of disastrously troubled romance and then both end in an inevitable tragedy. Both are absolutely heartwrenching, but I think the fact that you sort of know what's going to happen the whole book makes this one just so much more heartbreaking. Definitely less of the shock factor than with One Day, but I feel like, just, jeez wow. Especially because there's lowkey a moment where you're like omg maybe it won't happen but then you're like oh never mind it probably will... then okay shit yeah it most definitely will and the fact that it's just a matter of when is so devastating anyways ...

Anyways I am sad once again

I enjoyed the audiobook for sure, I think one thing that lowkey started to piss me off about the narrator was the different accents as it lowkey felt bordering on blaccent at times. She is a very talented narrator, I just... yeah. Not to mention the voodoo-esque Madame Nouvelle Lune as a character was... off... for lack of a better word...

I will also be so honest, I am quite sick of queer romance novels based on astrology. It's just so overdone, and it's one of those things where, like, if there was a decent selection of mainstream sapphic romance novels (SRN's) to pick from it wouldn't piss me off so much. But I feel like, at this point, at least 60% of SRN's have astrology as a central theme and I'm just so extremely over it.

I also thought the main character was not just stupid but also belligerently ignorant, like it pissed me off so much that she freaking
quit her job for a woman she's been on 1 singular date with and then was shocked that the woman was like "um ma'am please don't do that, especially considering you are screwing me and our project over in the process"
like i was seething with so much rage for Gray at that point that I was so fkn close to DNF'ing...
Throughout the whole book she just kept pissing me off and I personally would not have been friends with this woman (big insult, btw, as I'm a very cool, positive, friendly, and upbeat person)

As for the actual astrology part, the signs sh*t was just foolish, however, I did enjoy learning the bit about Saturn returns, which I did not already know. I'm very excited for my own!!

There is also just a bit too much homophobia for a romance novel about lesbians...

While I felt this book was well-written and definitely classics-level good, I personally struggled quite a bit with how intense and violent it was. Definitely lots of content warnings, proceed with caution, etc., but that is sort of to be expected just by reading the front.

I would give it 4 stars if I were just rating on like how it was, but I think 3 stars based on how much I liked it, if that makes sense? A personal rating.

I hated parts of this book very much, ultimately I am glad I read it but I will not be putting it on my list for, like "recommend me similar books" kinda thing as it was just quite a bit too much for me

I found this book through a master spreadsheet of sapphic novels by the naughty librarian (on instagram). I really loved the two main characters, they had so much personality and I loved how they brought out the best in each other! And helped each other realize their goals!

I loved the AuDHD rep, and what I loved so much about it was that, for the most part, everyone was very understanding of Pepper's social/sensory needs. There was almost no stink about it, at least not from her friends, and it was really refreshing to see a relative lack of ableism towards an autistic character.

I also loved to see, from Opal's side, the severe RSD she gets because bitch same. It's such a huge part of having ADHD (not necessarily for everyone, but for me for sure) and I don't see it often represented in romantic type settings.

One thing that I noticed was there were a lot of, like, internet humor and with that quite a few queer stereotypes that the author most definitely learned from TikTok. On one hand, I get it, but on the other hand I'm kinda super tired of queerness being reduced to cuffed jeans and throwing up peace signs...

That being said, I do love lesbians and I love stupid lesbians even more so like #slay #ilovepepper #suchagoodseasoning

I was going to give this 3 stars bc I was lowkey bored listening to it. I also hated the incessant "giggling" and I almost DNF'd bc of it.

Upping to 4 stars bc of the bonus scene at the end
