THIS IS COSMIC HORROR.

I may have mistaken and have maybe not seen the tag? The guy is definitely a pawn. The area is clearly ruled by something. This was extremely anxiety inducing and would be effective on people who are affected by it. I think the spiraling down of the second half was well structured. We are clearly dealing with a lovecraftian level threat here. Characters being shifted to alternate realities.

But my question is what is the significance of the male father character in playing house/family to this great of an extent?  What does that possibly serve? Clearly that man or thing is a puppet.

Another hard hitter from the author that holds the tempo and the emotions of the actual franchise

Your usual stephen king’s work. He can hold the tempo constant through the whole story and not let it get tiring. Fast paced and effective. If you liked this then you will love his other works, bazar of bad dreams and you like it darker
