What a read, I don't normally read this genre but I have to say I fell in love with his style of writing and how the story played off.
A lot of pages but a fast-paced story to keep you wanting to get to the next chapter.

I loved the characters and the little jokes that were put in.

Towards the end, I was a little confused at how something changed in the story - it was a shock for the change which did make me stall a little but it made sense towards the end. I just hate that I have to wait for the next book.

I don't know what to say tbh lol
Not what I thought it would be, and I found the characters very bland.
The ending was ok? but what I thought or assumed it would be was better than the ending itself.

Kinda disappointed in this one sad to say.

Unfortunately, I have ended up slapping this on my DNF shelf around 50% of the way through.

It is a struggle and a slog reading it with no "story."

But I think I would like to come back to this at a later date. Give it another chance later on.

SO!
This was a read, I preordered this book and it arrived 13 days before it was released (thank you very much Waterstones). So I loved the first book, it had the atmosphere, it was creepy and it genuinely gave me chills and freaked me out.

While this book doesn't hold that in the same regard - and for me has taken a few steps away from the gothic horror that the first one laid down, it is still a good read. I still love and adore the characters just as much (plus a few new people to meet) and the story and writing are extremely enjoyable.

That being said, it did not take the turn I thought it would take, the build-up was good but still somewhat strangely lacking. I did hope it would kind of continue the story from the first book, it is still a very good read (
Spoilerghost/mystery story. Though I did think it would go down the werewolf route as it made a few comments about them.
)

I wouldn't mind a third or a fourth book to be made though, as I know I would still genuinely love to read this as a series.

so the idea of this book is so good, the first chapter gave me goosebumps.
Puppets genuinely freak me out lol.

There were some spelling errors in and out which wasn't a huge thing even if it was character names among a few others. BUT the main thing is I felt towards the end of the book that the author didn't know how to end it.

The first half was amazing, dark, and creepy, then the last half felt very much like an "I don't know what to do but I guess we will go in this direction then?".

I still enjoyed the book, I kind of wished it finished a different way BUT I know I would probably read a second book if it was to come out.

I genuinely really enjoyed this read, the writing is really good, and the only reason why it's down a star is because of the... fetus/wishbone bit. It's something I have never read before and threw me through a loop.

Apart from that the story is brill, and I wouldn't mind seeing Watson here take on a few other genres as I feel they could easily thrive in others too.

I go into more detail in the book review and you get to see my reactions to certain bits.
