For a book that isn’t very long this world was RICH. I mean gosh there were so many points made here about stories and choices and family I think I need to give my brain a break in a good way.
3.75⭐️ I listened to the audio book and there were parts where my mouth literally dropped open.
CW: GORE. Explicit descriptions of animal and human gore, and it is integral to the plot so you can’t skip over it.
I’ve been meaning to get around to this book for a couple years and I’m glad I did. It’s different from the kind of books I normally read and not just because of the gore. I think I read mainly thrillers when I’m looking for something to get the adrenaline pumping but this did a WAY better job.
There are own voices reviewers who can speak more to the cultural complexity of this book. I am pretty out of the loop. But I loved Jones’ play with perspective and narration and well as the ambiguous morals.

4.5⭐️ very sweet. I’m glad I finally got the chance to read this. It made me want to call my grandparents and also live my life to the fullest.
3.5⭐️ Erin Morgensterns prose is exquisite. Her descriptions were dreamy and fantastical. If the night circus ever arrived in my town, I would also be hesitant to leave it.
I didn’t rate this book higher only because it is not my kind of story. The narrative was focused so intently on these beautiful descriptions that very little plot happened until past page 200. I think it can be an enjoyable read regardless, and I understand why many people love this book, it just didn’t wow me.

SO much fun. It took me a little while to get into the story and the mystery- because middle grade mysteries don’t start with a murder like all the other thrillers I’ve read this year. This book still managed to be charming and engaging and surprising!
My only regret is not reading it a little closer to the holiday season. This is the PERFECT curl up by the fire with a hot chocolate book.

3.5⭐️ Nice vibes, interesting premise. I’m not sure if there will be a sequel but I sort of don’t want one? I think I would have liked this better if it was a fully formed standalone.
Lots of unique magic concepts in here!!

SO cute I see why this one is popular. The first manga I’ve read that made me ACTUALLY laugh out loud. I already own the next 5 volumes and now I’m interested in starting the anime too!
