This book was a meh for me. I read the first half but couldn’t get in to it and felt nothing for the characters. So I skimmed the rest of it. I didn’t really care for the characters. I don’t like instalove and found this story rather boring. It didn’t feel like much happened. Since we met these characters in the previous book I thought their relationship was a lot longer and turns out it wasn’t and I didn’t like that either. It all just felt so rushed. This book wasn’t for me and is probably my least favorite of hers that I have read.

Lyra Keres is a clerk for the Order of Thieves. She is also cursed to be unloved. Which is fine. Living in San Francisco, the patron city of Zeus who cursed her is also fine. That is until the day of the Crucible arrives. Every 100 years the gods pick a champion to fight in their behalf. Whoever’s champion wins will be the new King of the Gods. Lyra has been brought in as the champion of Hades, who has never participated. Why her? And Why is her participating? These trials might kill her, but Lyra is willing to try, and hopefully not fall for the God of the Dead in between.
This book really fed my love for mythology and fantasy. Having the gods use mortals as their tools to choose who rules next is a fun take on it. The trials were all interesting. Lyra was an interesting character, though felt a bit martyr-ish with the whole curse thing. I loved Hades. He was great. Also Cerberus was so fun. Also, the cliffhanger was pretty good! I love this world the author has built and can’t wait for the next book.

Bristol Keats is an ordinary girl who is just trying to survive with her sisters. Their parents both dead, and the bills piling up. They keep getting letters from a supposed aunt who wants to see her. Bristol finally does show up. And when she does, it is not what she expects. When she hears that her father might possibly be alive and in this realm she agrees to go with them, even making a bargain with the far king Tyghan. But what will she find while there? How will this change her life forever?
This book has an interesting concept. I liked the world and the characters. I thought what Bristol had to deal with was thought out and good. However, the ending just was not what I expected or wanted from a book that is getting a sequel. It didn’t end in a cliff hanger at all. Obviously, there are unanswered questions but the ending didn’t leave me wanting more. It was just eh. It could have been done much better to leave you wanting more from the next book. Overall, this was an ok book with promise.

Verity Long is really getting the hang of this ghost detective business. But when the library catches on fire and her sister almost dies it definitely becomes a little too close to home. Now, her grandmother is back to help her right a wrong and uncover a history of her home town and her home that Verity never saw coming. Follow Verity and Frankie as they attempt to uncover a decades old secret.
I love this series! It is so fun. Verity is fun and I love that she has a pet skunk. Frankie is as always cantankerous but still caring. The mystery was something I wasn’t expecting but still thought was good. Overall, if you want a cute fun cozy mystery series check this one out!

Astrology House is a place where people can come have a relaxing weekend, get their birth chart read, and learn more about themselves. When a group of wealthy people from Manhattan vacation there, secrets will be revealed. Told from everyone’s point of view, follow to figure out what is happening with each person. And how do these people connect to the owner of Astrology House.
This book is an interesting concept. I would go to an astrology house for a weekend. It sounds fun. I thought the mystery was interesting. I thought I knew who did it but was wrong. I liked how many POVs it was though sometimes it felt a little too much. The author also added basic birth charts for everyone which was fun and great detail. I did wish I got more of the birth charts for everyone. I am intrigued by birth charts and hope to one day get mine read so having more of that would have added just a bit more. Overall a fun, quick, easy mystery to read.

🦋 End of Duology 🦋
Rune Winters is on the run from her home. After being outed as a witch, she now has to ally herself with one of the worst witches around, Cressida Roseblood. Rune wants the Republic to end and for witches not to be hunted. But then there is Gideon Sharpe. Gideon doesn’t want another reign of witches and he will do anything to stop it. Even if that means taking out the woman he loves. But these two will have to work together to stop Cressida or else something worse will happen. Find out if Rune and Gideon can put an end to the Roseblood line.
This book was a good way to end the duology. The storyline was good, with both Rune and Gideon trying to figure out how to work together and what they can do. I like that it is a dual POV and we get to see both Rune and Gideon’s sides. My one slight complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed. I felt like there could have been more to it. Other than that this was a great ending to this world.

Diem’s coronation did not go as planned. Now, she is pulled between wanting to help mortals but also not wanting the descended to be taken out completely. She will have to work with new friends to find a way to peace. But a new enemy has risen, and Diem is going to be facing much more than just mortals and descended.
This book was a good continuation of the series. I for some reason thought it was the last book so when getting t the end wondered how this would end. But it isn’t which is good. The world building is great. I enjoyed getting to see other realms and not just Lumnos. However, this it sometimes felts like what was the point of this happening. Some of it felt forced and just a reason for the characters to have a conflict. The book, to me, felt longer than it needed to be. The ending was good though. Overall, a good fantasy series with an interesting world.

📚 ARC Review 📚
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for my free copy of this book.
Dolores dela Cruz knows that the new temp Jake Ripper is a serial killer. His strangler gloves, good looks, and charm make him the perfect one. Jake Ripper is happy to have a distraction with this new woman. She is combative, fun, and can follow his flirting. He wonders if he has found his perfect match. Until one day she asks him to dispose of a body.
This book had such great potential. I loved the premise so much, but it honestly didn’t live up to it. The description is deceptive and didn’t lead to where I thought, but not in a fun twisty way. It was kind of like oh ok. Not much really happens in the book. If you want details DM me and I can spoil it for you. The flirting was fun and different. Overall it was ok but don’t go into it thinking you are getting like a cute version of a darker book.

Release Date March 18, 2025
Content Warning: Depictions of sexually explicit scenes, violence, and assault.
Thank you to the author Holly Renee for my free copy of this book.
Hope. That is all Verena has now. Hope that Dacre will save her from her father. Hope that she will survive. And once he does what then? Will she stay and fight or give in? Dacre will do anything to save Verena. Even turn against the people who raised him. Will they be able to save their people as well?
This was an excellent conclusion to this trilogy. It was sad, hopeful, and perfect. I don’t want to give too much away. But the author did such a good job with this ending. The characters were great. Watching them evolve and learn and grow. This is a spicy book and those scenes are 🥵 and well done. If you haven’t already, read this trilogy!

Queenie Madhavan never expected to be in this situation. Facing her bully at a party was meant to be her moment. But then she kisses an unsuspecting guy and everything changes. Noah Dumaine is here to get back so he can play professional cricket. Making out with a beautiful girl was not on his bucket list. Also getting caught with his pants down not good. To stay in the cricket camp he has one option: have Queenie pretend to be his girlfriend. Now the two are living together and pretending to like each other. But as time goes on something more happens. Can they open up to each other, or will something break them?
This was such a fun and a bit spicy book. I don’t know anything about cricket and the author does a great job and explaining how the game works. It still didn’t make sense to me but I appreciate the level of detail she went into to help people who don’t know about cricket learn. I still enjoyed the book. The characters were fun. I loved Queenie. She is so fun and flawed and I just love her. Noah is also amazing! Seriously this is a fun sports romance with an unusual sport.
