We’ve moved from mercenaries to criminals! Love these story lines as they are different from anything else I’ve read!

Tate James is the queen of cliff hangers so naturally this ended that way. Onto the next one…

"I'd rather have your hate than your indifference.
Hate is still passion, Tris, whether you like it or not."

This book was more fast paced than the last which kept me very intrigued and turning pages! LOVE the narration, the accents… all of it. Still hard core in love with all Tate James books.

This book was rated one of the highest in my “want to read” saves so I was excited to dive in. And something just isn’t sticking.

Rapper chases after an average girl, both have major past relationship traumas, and I just couldn’t get into it. Not even a little bit.

3.5 stars because the book took a while to start getting into it. The slow moving made it hard to be truly invested, but it was a great story line in general. Still recommend reading if you like spy thrillers but just know you want be thrilled for a while. The first half of the book is a lot of the character building and past stories.

5 stars for the narration though!

Loved this book so much. I truly think everyone would benefit from reading this book!

A few highlights that give a brief look into the book that stood out to me:

“The brain is a meaning-making machine, always trying to make sense of the world. If our view of the world is that people are good, then we will anticipate good things from people. We project that expectation in our interactions with others and thereby actually elicit good from them. Our internal view of the world becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy; we project what we expect, and that helps elicit what we expect.”

“Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could have been any different. But we cannot move forward if we’re still holding on to the pain of that past. All of us who have been broken and scarred by trauma have the chance to turn those experiences into what Dr. Perry and I have been talking about: post-traumatic wisdom. Forgive yourself, forgive them. Step out of your history and into the path of your future. My friend, the poet Mark Nepo, says that the pain was necessary in order to know the truth. But we don’t have to keep the pain alive in order to keep the truth alive.”

Kate Stewart does it again with this co-written novel about war, love and heartbreak.

Wow. This was so… complicated. Real, raw, angsty, emotional and felt impossible at times. I’ve never been so torn reading a book before. I truly didn’t know what the outcome would be. Either way, it’s heartbreak.

Highly recommend! I can’t share much else without spoiling so I’ll leave it at that.

Great ending to a great series. This one had a lot of twists and turns and I really enjoyed a lot of the characters. Tate James has such fun and different story lines and I’m here for it!

LOVED this! Such a good mix of romance paired with a mystery/thriller! It kept me in my toes until the very end. The narration was also great!

“Deep wounds always leave a mark. Some scar worse than others, and some don’t ever fully heal. They just scab over, muted and dulled until you prick them a certain way. But there’s beauty in pain. Your strength is in learning how to breathe through it; how to keep living even when it feels like you want to die.”

A modern day dark Peter Pan. I loved this twist on a classic story! It was def a darker tale, and had some great twists and turns. Narration was fab, so that was a huge bonus for me! Hook brought all the smut and Wendy kept everyone grounded lol ✨
