Read this years ago as a teenager and decided to listen to it as an audiobook now as an adult. Really enjoyed it both times but I can’t tell if it’s actually good or I’m being influenced by my nostalgia
I found this book pretty basic and predictable. The whole city girl visits the country thing is just so overdone by now and I found the dialogue pretty cringey. The twists were all fairly predictable to me as well. If I was actually reading this book and not listening to it as an audiobook I likely would have DNF-ed it but it was fine to listen to while I was driving or doing chores.
Absolutely loved this book. Every time you think you have everything figured out there’s a twist and the mystery is not quite solved. Really kept me wanting to keep reading and finish it.
Didn’t live up to the Percy Jackson series. Just couldn’t get into it the same way but this could be because I know less Norse mythology going into this book but it just didn’t capture my attention like other Riordan books
Picked this up because I was looking for a mystery/thriller sort of book and I love watching baking shows so it seemed right up my alley. The book was a fun read and I really enjoyed the different narrators for each characters POV in the audiobook. I wasn’t so much of a fan of the pacing of the book though. You really didn’t get into the mystery part of the book until about halfway in and then the plot seems somewhat rushed and not fully fleshed out by the end. The time jump at the end seemed to try to have this big reveal sort of moment that fell flat to me since it was pretty obvious and again it all felt a bit rushed. Still an interesting premise and a fairly quick book to listen to as an audiobook
