3.5 stars.
This book was just meh for me. My honest to goodness favorite part was about John and his dad and how towards the end of the book they finally truly understood and appreciated each other. A lot of the plot was very predictable and just didn't entice me. For this book being a shorter read, it took me over a month to complete because it didn't keep pulling me back. I had a hard time wanting to pick it up and read.
Overall, decent, but predictable romance story.

I devoured this book in just two days and the ending has me completely shook.

I'm just in such awe. I absolutely loved this edge of your seat journey and the ending has me second guessing the whole story!

I devoured this book in less than 48 hours. The title is absolutely accurate. We watch Wavy grow up over a course of over a decade. We endure her losses, her grief, her trials, her upbringing (or lack thereof). Her coping mechanisms not common, but understandable (her eating disorder, lack of communication, minimal attachment, and straying from bonding/intimacy) But through all of the shitty circumstances, she still has a few glimmers of shining stars in her life (Kellen, Donal, and I like to think Amy and Renee as well). I LOVED the character development and growth of all the characters through the book. I also LOVED the multiple viewpoints. There was just enough input from all the right characters at the right times. My heart was breaking in the tragedy of parts 3&4 and even in part 5 during the process of Kellens parole. But in the end, my heart fluttered and I actually had CHILLS!

Though the subject matter for some may be disturbing (violence, drugs, abuse, pedophilia, sex, etc.), These are unfortunately realities for so many children. In this fictional story, knowing that Wavy had one beautiful thing amidst all the ugly was truly fantastic.

Listened to this as an audiobook. At first I wasn't feeling connection to the characters. Yes, it was about good relationships and fun times, until tragedy struck. I found it honestly kind of mundane. Until the very end, honestly the last chapter saved it for me from a 3 to a 4 star book. The ending showed me that in the book, everything truly happens for a reason and what's meant to be will always find a way.

I'm disappointed to write this 3 star review, because I was so excited for this book from the description and concept! Unfortunately, it fell flat for me and just didn't live up to its potential. It was very one dimensional writing with very minimal depth. It just kind of felt like reading the same thing over and over in different ways and places.
The characters have no development. At all. (maybe a smidge, that's generous).
Lastly, there wasn't really any suspense or buildup to "twists". They were just kind of there. Like "oh okay this happened."
Overall, disappointed with this one. I just kind of read it but never looked forward to picking it up.

This being said, I did enjoy the super short chapters.

I love a good suspenseful drama and this definitely delivered. I saw one of the twists at the end from the getgo, but the others were quite shocking. And there were MANY of them. Definitely a good suspenseful mystery drama!

A very heart wrenching journey through Lydia and Lucas lives as they attempt to get to a safe haven after devastation struck their family. We meet many people along the way, some whom make us love them, and others whom we truly detest. I truly enjoyed this book, but I did feel there were many parts that were fillers and it could have been improved if some of the filler parts were omitted. Overall, this is Definitely a book I would recommend and don't understand the controversy over.
