- Diverse cast of characters? No
- Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
I wasn't that interested in the story until about 200 pages and the story picked up. I really enjoyed it after that, but I wish there was more focus on Henry's perspective as I was more interested in the infiltration of the house and how the cult came to be.
There are some weird moments and elements in the book that didn't need to be there, such as making the journalist who reported the story when Libby was a baby her love interest and never addressing some of Henry's actions, both when he was a teenager and as an adult.
I liked that the ending is up to the readers interpretation, but it felt like the story wasn't finished and needed to be fleshed out more.

4.5
An incredible and necessary book to read for anyone who calls themselves a feminist.
Hood Feminism focuses on how mainstream white feminism actively ignores and oppresses Black women through a wide range of topics from hunger and food to missing and murdered Black women, explaining why these topics need to be included in the feminist movement.
There is a lot of information in this book, but it is just a stating point for anyone looking to understand and adopt intersectional feminism. The book did start to feel repetitive the further along I got, but that is due to the interconnected nature of the topic being discussed, and is beneficial to the reader as it allows the main points of the book to be reiterated thus more likely to stick.
