Catch and Keep by Erin Hahn

Back on my BS reading interconnected standalones out of order... I loved this one. I adored all the characters and the easy way they fit together. There was really great representation in here, from the family and friend relationships, to the unwelcome attention fame and small towns can have. Joe is a single father to a very enthusiastic young boy and a four year old autistic girl, and the representation of that was very well done. Maren was written so well and was believable to me as a character. Okay anyway I'm gonna go do my laps now

I went back and forth on this one. I always liked it! I think I'd have liked it more if I hadn't read Zoe Brennan first. It was just a little less funny, a little more cringey, and there's a lot of new motherhood and newly single motherhood I just don't relate to in here, so ymmv on that one. I still cried. I still love the characters. They're just a little nuts.

this was overall cute but also a little unhinged!! I love a story within a story and the family reading fairytales together to practice their language and connect was very sweet.

This definitely would not be for everyone but it was for me. I wish I had it as a teen.

this was fun. I like the astrology and the cats. It's hard for short stories to have multiple povs with characters who are woven together but I liked this one.

This is really funny and cute. A little corny the way all monster stories are. I'm excited to read the sequel.

This was a really nice YA read. I think it handled the issues around dance really well, coming of age and identity as a queer person is a less than accepting space, and the art was beautiful. I liked the way color was used throughout, with some scenes being tinted or full color and others having heavy shadowing.

I liked the themes in this, even if I can't relate to the main character's religion. I don't always enjoy graphic novels with less detail and fewer colors but this one really worked.
