This book was... Beautiful. Haunting. Mysterious. Gripping. Fascinating. Following a surreal distopian reality, the main character must survive in a world where she's possibly one of the last 40 women alive, and then eventually the last. Hope is challenged, and the will to live and survive is explored. This entire book was... I couldn't put it down. It forced me to ask myself so many questions about my existence. The human existence. The human experience. And challenge the gift that I have been given to live out my life with purpose.

I was really disappointed with this one. I had heard such promising things, but this book was... Boring. I was so bored. I don't think I'll continue the series. I was so disappointed. The plot didn't keep me engaged, it felt unoriginal, regurgitated craft.

This is often a required book to read in school but I never took a class that required it.

A solid read. A dark, coming-of-age with death, violence, truth, and reality.

I think the concepts in here are great. I also think that the whole world really could benefit from this level of healing, self-awareness work, and internal attentiveness and intention.

Some of the ways the author went about storytelling, and providing personal experience was hard to sit in. It felt quite ego driven, making some parts of the book harder to relate to. That being said, this is a great approach, a fantastic methodology, and very different from anything else I've ever tried or experienced.

With the intensity and hype from the first one, this second book in the series left something to be desired.

I found Control both boring, unlikable, and hard to follow. He was a grown-ass adult but I could see him as nothing more than an 18-year-old boy way in over his head. His mannerisms, his reactions, even figuring out his identity in the way he was and with his internal dialogue gave me hardcore coming-of-age. Which was absolutely disappointing.

The concept of the Southern Reach and Area X is FASCINATING. And so applicable to our current state of the world. So I'm going to give the next book in the series a go.

This book was... Everything I would hope it would be an more. I was engaged start to finish, with a steady pace. I was so invested... Normally I never get this invested in books of this genre. This one was thoroughly enjoyable and I can totally get the hype the book has received.

The Power of Creativity: Learning How to Build Lasting Habits, Face Your Fears and Change Your Life by Bryan Collins

There were some serious grammatical errors that made reading some of it a challenge but overall the message was inspiring. It really got me motivated to start regularly writing at a time that my writing passion was the least of my priorities. Solid book to get you motivated, geared mostly towards writers.
