this book was well written, visceral, and sharp. at times it made me chuckle and others it hit me in the chest. grief is such a heavy feeling but it can also be a melancholy nostalgia. i thought it was interesting how she used the burglary to move through grief and juxtaposed the two events.
some parts were more compelling than others but overall i enjoyed it.

i found this book intriguing, informative, sometimes funny & sad, infinitely relatable. a lot of these essays hit home & gave me a new perspective on a lot of issues surrounding eating disorders, the treatment of them, and the societal impact & perception.
it definitely helps to know a lot of these feelings are shared by others. it makes me feel so silly to spend so much time thinking about my body, how to control & change it, and now spending so much time in recovery for an ED. it's hard out here, but books like this open your eyes.
it was also fairly inclusive which is nice.

i enjoyed the audiobook read by anna paquin and it made the story more digestible since it's pretty dialogue heavy.
this was certainly a coming-of-age tale. there were a lot of elements i liked: the unapologetic nature of molly, the exploration of her identity and sexuality, her "go-getter" attitude, the air of curiosity, and some of her pranks. there were a lot of other elements that were harder to ignore, like the incest or rape comments. i understand reading this through the lens that this was released in the 70s, but jarring nonetheless.
sometimes i felt like the story was a bit of the same throughout but overall, it was a decent book & well written.
