Indulge Me by J. Kenner
4.0
My Review:
Indulge Me is a fabulous addition to the series. This is where after Damien, we see that Nikki is struggling with some PTSD to what happened to not just her but her babies. She is still traumatized and Damien is at a loss at to what to do for her. We see some come to Jesus moments in this one, we see Damien take Nikki on a trip to France to reconnect at one of their favorite sex clubs. We see Nikki learning to let go of that burden that Damien is able to do for her. I really loved how well Damien can see what Nikki needs and what she needs to let go of. I also love that we got more growth in their relationship within this novella and was also a very quick and easy read.
I am very eager to see this series come to an end but also for their next chapter in their Stark Security company which does have a series of books ahead.

When Villains Rise (Anti-Heroes in Love, #2) by Giana Darling
5.0
My Review:
Whew the conclusion to the Anti Heroes duet was phenomenal!!! I literally read this one in 2 hours....a 500 page book in 2 HOURS....even I am shocked I was able to do it so quickly. I just didn't want to put it down and it just swept me away so quickly. I loved the way in which this author wrote these books and the conclusion was epic in every way. I loved seeing our couple in Italy, seeing them manuever their way throughout the complex politics of the mafiosos and seeing them really face up to some conflicts that come across their way.
I loved how everything gets resolved in the end though. There were some aspects that was a bit sad in what happens to some of the side characters, but the way it evolves really clicked for Dante and Elena. Their story really comes together in the right way. I loved the fight that these two together to fight for one another and their family and their future. It had me swooning all over the place. I loved the heart of Dante and Elena and their story melted my heart in every way!

When Heroes Fall by Giana Darling
5.0
My Review:
When Heroes Fall is the first book in the "Anti Heroes" Duet by Giana Darling. Now I am not sure why but I put these books off for a very long time. Because I do really enjoy this author and I have always truly enjoyed her books. So When Heroes Fall is basically an mafia don and a laywer ice queen. Now Elena has been in previous series that is in the connected world, so I haven't read those books. I just got to see the unveiling of Elena. I am actually relieved because from what I have heard she isn't great in some other books and that might have ruined my enjoyment of this book. Now that I have seen her true character, I think I will enjoy those previous books more as I understand who she is and the things she dealt with.
When Heroes Fall had one of my favorite dynamics actually. I really admired these characters. And our hero Dante, is one of the best mafia heroes I probably have ever read. I love that even though he is a morally grey hero, he has a code he lives by, he loves those under his care and will protect them no matter what happens. Then we have Elena who has been burned by the mafia in her life, and really hasn't ever been put first by anyone in her life. We see her slowly thaw, we see glimpses of the woman she is and we see how she responds to Dante who has a very commanding presence but has a gentle side when it comes to her.
If you are a fan of mafia romance, then this duo series needs to be on your must read list! I guarantee you will fall in love with this world.

In Search of Heaven is the first in a series of the Barrington Family. This is where we have a match between a holder of a English estate with a mass inherited fortune and a humble girl of faith. This is a story that will deal with both the setting of England and the America's....it will delve into a deep abiding faith, it will also dig into learning to love despite deep hurts being given and courage to face the unknown for a bright and beautiful future and what feels right in the heart....
First Line
Eleanore Layne hurriedly wove her dark auburn hair into a long braid, tied it with a black ribbon, and tossed it over her shoulder.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: James Barrington
The Heroine: Eleanor Layne
Summary
Eleanor is just a humble servant in the household of the Barrington. She is a woman of faith and content with her lot in life. She dreams of one day falling in love and having a family. She stumbles across a book in the road which leads her to the discovery of a new book of scripture: The Book of Mormon. She is instantly drawn into its pages that feels so connecting to the Bible. She is a avid reader and dreams of going to America. When the wife of Mr. James Barrington dies in childbirth he is in need of a governess, one that is well read and with a kind heart. He then offers Eleanor the job to be their governess. At first she is hesitant to take the offer, but then knows that this is a blessing from heaven, as it would mean higher wages and it wouldn't take so long to earn her way to the America's. James and Eleanor build a slow trust with each other, and Eleanor falls deeply for his children and when he makes a decision to move to the America's, he makers her an offer she can't refuse.....a marriage of convenience with promise of protection and affection but not love as his past wife burned him of love he could have had for her....but will Eleanor's dream of love be forgotten....
What I Loved
This was truly such a poignant and heartfelt romance that I felt dig deep into my heart. I wanted to just relax with this book and not rush through it so I did take my time with it. It felt so heavenly to be reading with this author once again. I fell so hard for this book and these characters just captivated me so deeply. I loved the authors' note in this book especially and I feel like many who grew up with religion in their lives and the aspects of intimacy that are rarely communicated with will relate to this story and how she really talks about intimacy in this story. If you are worried about detailed or explicit sex scenes, they aren't going to be in this. But it definitely touches base on this aspect as our couple is in a marriage of convenience but its going to be on the bridge between closed door and fade to black.
I found In Search of Heaven to be fascinating and emotionally engaging. This is going to appeal to readers that enjoy romance and more focus on character building. There is a plot here but its more slow going in that regard as the focus is the slow built relationship between this family. From the beginning you are on board with this heroine and her journey of faith and love. I loved how the author slowly built the ties with the Barrington family and then what she touched on with the religious aspects. It does touch base with the Latter Day Saint faith but its not heavy no more than any other Christian based book and I think non Latter Day Saints will appreciate this story and this series and the journey I know that is ahead for them. I have a feeling more historical relevance will be in later books.
What I Struggled With
The romance starts out pretty slow so some readers may struggle with this one and if you don't read romance on the regular....keep in mind this is a romance. But the writing is very engaging so I think most readers will be drawn into the story easily.
Overall View
In Search of Heaven was a captivating read that digs deep into the heart's desires, a entwined spiritual journey and deeply rooted relationships that will tightens its reigns on your emotions easily.

First Impressions
Still Life With Strings is a standalone that is set in Ireland where we have a very unconventional type of romance and I really liked it. I will admit that this book did throw me off at times though. It just wasn't what I expected or what the blurb even implied so there were moments where I struggled at times with certain aspects, but its a LH cosway so I was bound to fall for this story despite the issues that I had with it. Its intriguing, a bit different, a unique dynamic of shy hero and bold heroine. It also showcases abuse and suicide in such a real way that I think will really resonate with readers.
First Line
They call me the blue lady.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Shane Arthur
The Heroine: Jade Lennon
Summary
Jade is a woman of many talents. She is struggling having to raise her siblings on her own, she is working multiple jobs but what she is most drawn to is classical music especially when that music is played by violin strings. She has a fascination with the instrument and those talented enough to play brilliantly with it. While out dancing on the street for one of her side gigs, she feels a connection to a stranger and things get hot and heavy that night. Not knowing that he is a famous musician for his talents and is a man that has trauma and is more reserved and shy. He isn't bold like she has had to be in her life. But Jade has been burned by a past relationship and won't do anything serious. Shane has suffered his own share of trauma and being betrayed but he is willing to put his heart on the line for Jade and show her what they have is real. But will their pasts burn what they could have in the future?
What I Loved
I really adored the hero and the emotion that rises from the pages of this story. The hero is such a good guy hero and man my heart broke for him and the cards that he had been dealt with in his life. I have to admit I LIVE for violin theme romances and this one was definitely brilliant so you know I just had to listen to my playlist of David Garrett. And even though there were aspects to the hero that threw me off....what I found so refreshing is what a good man he is and so straight laced. We see a tortured hero that is a bit unconventional in how he is written. It won't be the A typical tortured hero that you normally receive and I did appreciate aspects of that. I also loved how he pursued the heroine even when she was beyond stubborn and always stayed within the boundaries she set. It did showcase healthy relationship boundaries which I appreciated since we don't see that always in older contemporaries like this one. I did love the way that the hero pushes through the trauma of his past. It does have mentions of abortion...so be mindful of that but its just mentions and its not the main characters that are directly involved in the choice of abortion but deal with the consequences of it. The emotion in this story really got to me in the quiet moments of reading this story.
What I Struggled With
Some of the pacing was a bit slow especially in the first half of the book. And I didn't really care for this dynamic. I am not really a fan of the shy hero....bold heroine. And this is the first time I have read this author where the hero wasn't an alpha and I admit that it threw me off because that isn't what I was expecting going into this book to be honest. So this dynamic I struggled with and seriously the heroine was annoying at times. She was constantly putting away a really good guy hero and I felt so bad for him. Because he had been hurt in my opinion way worse than she had. But she kinda played the pity card all the time and it was very frustrating. Good thing Shane had the patience of a saint.

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

My Review:
This was a very short read and I really liked the time era that this book takes place in, it was really fascinating. I love the Egyptian time eras here. But this book wasn't that great lol I love the cover though and these are short books and I know that this was her first book so I am hoping that her other books are better than this one actually was. I loved the mythology and the forbidden relationship that is portrayed. The ending was different lol It still is a HEA but it just wasn't the most polished story. It definitely need some work for sure. But it was a interesting story and I loved the dynamic of Egyptian demi gods.

First Impressions
Deadly Intent is the infamous Joaquin's book and this is a installment I have been waiting almost the whole series for because sexy Latino Joaquin I have been wanting a book so badly for. One he is sexy as sin, but also has a good heart which is rare in a journalist character even in a romance but I have to say that this author has really done solid journalistic characters (most of the ones that I have read have been toxic in many respects). So first off BRAVO to Pamela Clare for always writing solid characters you can easily resonate with. This book was jam packed, tackled tough subjects like PTSD and sexual harassment and drug abuse.
First Line
Joaquin Ramirez
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Joaquin Ramirez-Investigative Journalist
The Heroine: Mia Starr-US Army Captain
Summary
Mia Starr was once in the army, as a military captain but she is now retired and more than feeling free of getting away from the burdens she bore while on deployment. When she is in the wrong place and wrong time, she is under investigation as a murder suspect, and her one saving grace is the sexy photojournalist, Joaquin Ramirez. She doesn't trust journalists in any way....but there is something so gentle in his eyes that she trusts and he keeps being in the right spot to protect her. As they grow closer to each other, there is also a serial murderer who wants Mia dead and will stop at nothing to make sure that happens...
What I Loved
The ROMANCE Was so solid in this one and this author really captured by attention. I had started this one in audio but then picked up the ebook and I couldn't put it down so I stuck with it physically because it had me so easily engaged and I have really struggled this week on it. Both characters were beyond endearing. We see how well balanced they are as a team. There was such sweet but spicy sensuality that just vibrates off of the page. I loved how this author balances out her stories and this one was super well written. There were soft notes of culture in here that was so captivating. The tension really builds as the plot picks up pace and I was so curious to see who the villain is. We even get a POV in his perspective and yeah you won't see it coming who it is until the end. I loved that this author tends to give you the shocks of the reveals and do some unique twists. And this had me in my feels so deeply in the end there that I had to rate it so high because this book definitely deserves it!!!! I can't wait to read more from this author.
What I Struggled With
Nothing really.....I think the audio was hard to keep attention to which is why I switched to physically reading it but that might have just been my attention span as well.

Very good. I think the issue I had with the audiobook was more of a "me" issue as I normally love these narrations for the series. So if you love audiobooks....I still recommend it highly

First Impressions
Cloaked in Beauty is the most recent installment in the "Texas Ever After" series. This is a combination of Sleeping Beauty and Red Riding Hood. If you are looking for a very close and vivid retellings of classic fairy tales with a western twist....then looked no further than the Texas Ever After series. This series is so superb and Cloaked In Beauty was a fantastic addition to the series and I fell so captivated by this series. It was fascinating to see how this series was built. I was so intrigued in the way in which these two retellings were blended and she definitely made it work so well. Every time I read this author, I am overwhelmed in all of the feelings she portrays flawlessly.
First Line

When she learns that her uncle may have located her, her mother hires Pinkerton agent Philip Carmichael to find her daughter and bring her home. Philip manages to find Letty before her uncle's men do, but they are on a time crunch, and through their journey in the back woods, and her pet wolf they journey slowly back to her mother and safety. What I Loved
Cloaked in Beauty was a endearing retelling and this author is pure magic for me! I couldn't put this one down and I just fell so deep for Letty and Philip. This combined retelling really came to life with such vibrancy and poignant emotion. I really appreciated in how this author brought such balance to this series. This romance was such a blast. I loved both characters, and they really balanced each other out. And this had another heroine was was mature, took control when needed, and had such a loving heart. I loved how fiery she could be but also balanced it out with a soft and gentle nature. Her pet wolf was such a nice touch to the series. The romance that builds between Philip and Letty was slow at times, but their banter was witty and almost had a magical charm to it that constantly tugged at my heartstrings. They make such a great pair together and that ending was everything.
What I Struggled With
Not much honestly. I do wish we saw more kissing and affection but I know its an inspirational romance so you don't see so much of that. But it delivered in many ways.
Narration
Brilliant. She really captures this author's writing style so well and really pulls me into the story.

Damien: A Stark Novel by J. Kenner
4.0
My Review:
Damien is the sixth installment in the "Stark Saga" and this follows the previous book, where one of their children had been kidnapped. Now their children are both safe but this is where we get Damien's POV and we see his perspective as he works through feeling like a failure not being able to protect his family. Now I do think some of this is on Nikki's shoulders as she has a breakdown during this happening and we are seeing the effects of this. I really loved the way this story was written, I adore a hero's POV and unfortunately its so rarely done.
I really appreciated this story, we really get things moving forward and see who is behind so many things. It won't have the easiest ending (don't worry no one in Damien's family is affected) but something does happen to a good friend of his but I was glad to just see her no longer in the series cause all the drama lol I did love what we see happen for Nikki and Damien though, seeing Nikki really be the wife we all know she can be and getting Damien to face up to his fears and being his true partner. I loved how she stood up for him so easily.
Overall I had a blast with Damien and I can't wait to see what happens in the end of the series for our pair.
