Okay.. The 1st half of the book was really boring and I almost DNF'd this book. But after few weeks, I decided to give it another go, and I powered through. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the 2nd half!! And the writing style was amazing!! Love love lovee the writing. This book gets the 2 stars just for the writing...But as far as the characters go, I didn't really care who died and who didn't? And that was a set back while reading this book to be honest. Since I am a sucker for anything informative, I loved the way the author had described the world and it's setting. I am not sure how I feel about the ending though!

Will I continue with the next book? Maybe not.. I am not sure.

Detailed review coming soon!!

*Thankyou Netgalley & Diversion Books for providing me with an e-copy in exchange for an honest opinion. All thoughts are my own and not influenced in any way*

This book revolves around the concept of a dystopian world where 'hollow-heads' (or otherwise called as zombies to be simple exists) and even they are not the biggest problem the main character faces. Sure, that sounds interesting as well as horrifying because it is. This book deals with a lot of sensitive topics so a TRIGGER WARNING is definitely needed. It deals with human trafficking, sexual assault and a lot of explicit death scenes. So make sure to keep that in mind before you start this book.

First of all, the characters were amazing. We didn't have a lot of them, but I really liked the complexity of the characters. Nobody is perfect, everyone has their own demons to deal with and they are not afraid to let it show. I think that accounts for a really good package when it comes to a dystopian novel. You need that uncertainty, the hope that everything might get better even when shit is going down. I loved the pacing of the book. It was not fast, which really let the situations sink in before anything bad starts happening. I almost cried twice.

When it comes to the plot, it is not something really new. Yeah you can only do much when it comes to this particular genre, but I was really glad when Romance was not the main focus of this book. It dealt with relationships, yes, but not explicitly romance. And I was really into it this book because of that. Plus Marilyn was one of my favorite character! (Not a spoiler but...) Sure Sam is the main character, but I felt that the reason Sam stayed sane was because of Marilyn and if not, she would have made terrible decisions and just gotten herself killed. I loved how vulnerable the character sometimes were, and accepts their stupidity. I have not read a lot of dystopian novels, so I might be wrong, but I really loved how this book turned out.

But, I would have loved to read some more about the actual situations people were in, and how they came to be what they are right now, and there were a few loose ends in the ending. And the twist, okay.. about half way through the book you kind of figure out who the person is and there are a lot hints that helps you with that too. Despite the slightly disappointing ending, I really liked this book and how it deals with the harsh reality of the world. Also, this book reminded me of the movie World war Z, and it is slightly similar when it comes to how the Hollowheads work, but they have their differences.

If you are someone who is looking for a dystopian novel that doesn't have romance centric plot, really good pacing and writing, you definitely check this book out. I definitely would be reading a lot more of dystopian from now on.

'I started to find joy in small things, and that's exactly what I longed for, if I ever fall in love'

Poetry is a way of expressing your deepest, darkest emotions. It makes you start loving yourself again and gives you a clearer perspective of your own self again. Like the same, this book is a collection of poetry and prose about love, heartache and healing.
.
First of all, this book has been divided into three parts which deals with different emotions. Some might even say they overlap, but you can quite easily place the emotions in different categories. The writing was really simple, neat and conveyed the right emotions at the right time. The formats of all the poetry/prose were all simple too which was also a plus. The book is quite short, and you can easily get through this in an hour or less.
.
Although it is a collection of unique poems, the emotions these poems convey or the choice of words might seem very familiar and can feel repetitive. And at times I felt the lines were too familiar and it did not sit well with the complete reading experience. Not every line can be unique because of the amount of sentences that exists, but it could have had different choices of words or phrases to give a personal touch. This is my personal reading experience, and might not feel the same to you.
.
Overall, this book is a very good collection of prose and poetry with really nice and simple writing, good amount of emotions, and easy to read prose format. If you are looking for a Poetry starter kit, definitely check this book out! It is definitely worth your reading time.

Okay I know I told I wouldn't read this book, but I was too curious to just stop. But I am actually glad I did. I loved the parts we got POV's from Cassian and Morrigan, but other than that, it was a book for people who just want more of their favorite characters rather than a book with an actual plot. I can't say I enjoyed it like I did the previous books, but it satisfied my character cravings!.

Okay.. Honestly I thought I would hate this series after the first book. Then after so many people saying that it gets better, I decided to give the next book a shot. So many layers were there, and I really loved the characters and their dynamics. And this book just dealt with their vulnerabilities, power and so much more!! I am so glad I picked this series up. BUT I don't think I will read anything beyond this ending.. I don't want to ruin this 😂

Omg I loved the setting of this book and how the story progressed! I loved the characters and especially how the Vasilisa as a character grew!! I really liked the slow pacing of it and kind of got attached to the characters slowly! Plus I am so glad to have finally picked this book up!
