I'm a big fan of Alfred Hitchcock's adaptation of this, so it was interesting to notice the major changes between the film and the original text. Grippingly written, truly makes you feel as if you're living with the Buntings.

Ah.

I've been a fan of Tom Waits for some 15 years now, hell, we share a birthday! But this ain't it.

Going into it, I didn't know it wasn't an authorized biography, so finding that out made the process of reading harder. The first half was fine, mostly the stuff that was already well known, but the other half was a mess.

Also, my issue with the author is his need to impose his own opinions about particular songs or albums. If you're writing a biography, try to keep it objective, you're ruining it for everyone.

Even better than The Haunting of Hill House! Mysterious and dark, yet weirdly easygoing as well, I absolutely adored it!

This book is the definition of 'mid'. As I finished reading the last sentence, I couldn't help but throw the entire thing against the wall, so take that however you want.

Peter Lake is an extremely lovable character and I'd say that this book did him injustice. In total, the book starts of wonderfully strong and then falls apart, I've lost interest too many times and I really wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Oh good lord, the pain. This was one of the, if not the most painful book I've ever read, it just keeps piling on and I almost feel bad for reading it as fast as I did.

Puts you in a pickle, it's not a book that you want to revisit nor a book that you can recommend to someone.

I'm a sucker for books that walk a specific kind of line just to cross it with the very last line, I am demolished, in shambles.

Just about the most brutal book I have ever read. For about a half of it, it leaves you wondering just where the plot is, because all you get is violence upon violence upon violence. And then it hits you, that IS the plot.

The promise of a haunting antagonist delivered for sure, what made judge Holden even more terrifying is a research I did on my own, the fact that he's based on a real person and the horrible deeds he has done. Haunting and terrifying.
