As always, Thich Nhat Hanh proves his masterful ability to describe the acts and benefits of buddhsit thinking in a way that does not push or force beliefs, but explains in a way that is both enchanting and warm.
I had to give in and give it 5 stars. I did struggle throught a bit of it, but overall I just couldn't get enough! These are the major components of this series that make it one of a kind:
Lisbeth Salander- the girl with the dragon tattoo, Lisbeth's unique style and unparalleled intelligence make her an unforgettable character.
The Millenium Staff- Protagonist Mikael Blomkvist's magazine staff, this batch of diverse personalities makes me wish for coworkers like that in the future.
The computer wizardry- the Millenium trilogy immerses readers in the high tech (but illegal) world of computer hacking and espionage.
Things I didn't like:
The "James Bond" element- much of the series, especially this last book, involves criminal organizations and government infiltration. I'm not a huge fan of the spy genre, but it worked really well in this trilogy.
Blomkvist's sex addiction- I got annoyed with Mikael's need to sleep with every major female character (except his sister). I realize that this is part of his personality, and so I accept it, but it did get tiresome.
Overall, an amazing read and I can safely say that this series is a must read. I know I'll reread in the future.

This was definitely lost in translation I think. The plot was simplitistic in a purposeful way, but the language I think was too simplistic. A single father and his adolescent daughter are on vacation away from Paris when the two find new love. The daughter Cecile plans to sabotage her father's affair due to her dislike of the woman, but finds the consequences to be irrevocable.
I read 3 of these to meet my 50 books by the end of the year, even if it's sort of cheating. Something about this series has be drawn in. I think a teenage girl could better sympathize with Nana's problems, but I enjoy the storyline.
This manga is probably the deepest I've read. It investigates a switch of roles. Instead of the men being Shogun and running Japan, the women are left to the more "masculine" jobs like farming and business, while the men are left to be servants and prostitutes. A horrible disease wiped out the majority of men in Japan and they soon become almost sacred. The protagonist finds himself serving under the Shogun and finds out that it is much more dangerous than he once thought.
I think that this story has some worthy life lessons. What gives men the right to be superior? Why can't we do things that are "normal" for the opposite sex?

Again, George R.R. Martin delivers a masterpiece. Many authors master the English language, but Martin goes beyond that, he has English chained down and tamed, willing to do his bidding. The continuing series has forever changed my concept of a "good book" and keeps me wanting more. One of the best aspects of this series is that the antagonists are not clearly known. Betrayal and lies are key components of all 5 books so far, and I expect lots more in the concluding novels. I have to say, this series was the best book recommendation I ever got, aside from the one to read Harry Potter when I was 7, but a close second.
I'm not the type to read many comics, but this one was okay. It had all of the fantasy things you would expect in a book with a cover like that.
