4.5

This is a 4.5 for me.
This book was so interesting to read as it gives us a peak into who everyone was before book 1 A Touch of Gold and Madness. In book 1 we hear about some of the experiences everyone went through but this book really lets us live it out with them. Especially through Chrome's perspective which for obvious reasons we don't really get in book 1. I enjoyed reading it so much and there was this one moment towards the end of the book of what Chrome went through that just broke my heart. I mean everything in this book that Chrome goes through was horrible but the moment he broke from what happened I wanted to burn it all to the ground too.
The author is really good about creating interesting characters, but this book added even more depth and complexity to some of the characters that I have some mix feelings about some of them.
Something we see unfolding in this book is the relationships between Slate and Gray and even Chrome, so it has the feeling of a romantic triangle which we know from book 1 there is some history between Slate and Gray so here we get to see the start of it play out. I had such mix feelings about this because on one hand I am always for people finding happiness where they can, and no one deserves another person but OMG when I started to see the start of Slate and Gray, I was like noooo because of everything that happens with Chrome and reading his thoughts, feelings and what he has been through I thought he needed something anything to bring him just a little joy in his life. I also was like Slate come on you have to see Chrome's feelings they should be so obvious for someone you think of as a brother. I mean for goodness' sake he told you to try and get close to her to help train her to be her friend and prepare her. You even heard the talk of a bond, and you decide to act on these new feelings!! Even though I know what happens in book 1 I was so frustrated screaming at slate during parts of the book.
This book was so exciting, and I loved the answers and insight it provided to this story that I fell in love with from book 1. It makes me so excited for the next book and I can't wait to read it.
This book is about the people and events before Devolution Day. Before Devolution Day and Griffin Silas there was Chrome Freyr who one of the most Elite and decorated Kenetic Warrior not just of his generation but previous generations as well and he is only 16 years old. But that is just what people see on the surface. Below the surface they would see all the pain and suffering he is in all at the hands of their king. And it's not just him suffering under this tyrant which is why the insurgence is growing and planning for a way to take down the king and to install his adopted daughter as queen. But for now, she is the princess who is kept isolated from everyone whose father humiliates in front of their people to put her in her place. So, for Chrome the only real mission on his mind is to save and nurture her but not just for her future role but because of this connection they have from a childhood incident that just draws him to her. So, he enlists his best friend Slate to help train her and protect her so that she can build the skills and confident to one day lead their people. But as Slate trains the princess he starts to see the same fire within her that drew in Chrome, and it draws him in as well. But with emotions running high and people's hidden secrets will the insurgency be able to stay true to its mission or will one slip up cost them everything.

I thought this was a really fun book and that is because of the dynamic between the two MCs. I loved any character who is crazy or unhinged and the things that Nicole did to Lev was really crazy at times. All in an effort usually to remind him that he belonged to her. I loved it. I also really enjoyed the switch of seeing a Bratva MMC being the more submissive one and doing the crawling, the begging, the O denials. There is a lot of spice in this book as result and it was really well done. It made for a spicy and fun book to read.
I loved Nicole like I said she was crazy in the best way possible plus when you combined that with how smart and feisty she was she definitely had people minding their Ps & Qs around her for fear of setting her off which would usually have her throwing a boom device their way even Lev.
With Lev he was really endearing as you have this Strong Bratva Man who has a name that strikes terror into his enemies but who can not only be submissive to a female Domme but really vulnerable and have a softer center than you would think. But that doesn't mean he doesn't fight back and do his own unhinged things. I mean that is how he got such a fearful reputation. So definitely enjoyed his personality and their couple dynamic.

Now I will say there are a lot of time jumps in this book that seemed a little unnecessary and kinda made the flow a little choppier. But it didn't take away how fun of a plot it was, and it seemed to settle down towards the end of the book but at the start it just a little choppier than I would like.

Overall, this was a fun and spicy read that I think anyone would enjoy.

This book is about Lev who takes a job to find a missing rich girl for her parents who think she is rebelling. Something about the job seems off but once he gets a look at her picture, she just sticks with him, so he takes the job. Surprisingly it was easy enough to find her and she is nothing like he thought she would be, and it just reinforces that something is off with the parents and this job. This is made apparent when Nichole turns the tables on him warning him to stop following her and leave her alone. Well, he can't do that of course but little does he realize the hunter has become the hunted and Nicole now has her eyes on him and has decided that he is hers and it's time to play with her new toy with some explosive results.

4.25

this is a 4.25 for me. I have been really looking forward to Shepheard's book because I was really curious about him and all his alters and how that would work in a romance. Especially with one of the alters being so unhinged the other brothers were always very cautious around him. This alter was names Keres and of course he was my favorite almost a little more than Shepeard himself simply because I love unhinged, single minded, intense MMCs.
But overall, this was an interesting depiction of how someone with DID can function and have a relationship with all the different alters and even the purposes of the alters and what they represent.
I really liked Eli and just wanted to do everything I could to keep him safe. I loved how each of the alters in a way not only had their purpose for Shepheard but also had their own part in providing Eli what he needed in a relationship as well. You had one that was there to protect him, one to provide companionship, one that let him in a way be a kid again and then Shepheard himself who was able to be there for Eli and provide him love and guidance and a chance to explore his needs while also healing.
This was an interesting relationship dynamic that came with lots of spice that was very enjoyable to read. Each character added to the story, and I enjoyed them all. I will say for the plot it did feel a little slow and dragged a little.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and getting's Shepeard's story but I as always, I am curious what the next book holds for the next family member. This family is so interesting, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book is about Shepheard is doing everything he can to maintain balance in his life. He is a respectable Doctor (psychiatrist), Dom, business owner and professor. But he also helps his family in their vigilante business of going after criminals that keep evading justice. All while also secretly trying to track down the cult he grew up that still has his sister in their grasps. It's a lot that's for sure especially for the average person but he is like other people. He has DID disassociate identity disorder with 4 alters that he has to share his life with. So, to say he is burnt out is an understatement. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a submissive or anyone who has caught his eye that he could blow off steam with. That is until he meets Eli and sparks fly. But Eli is too good and pure and even more important too fragile psychologically to handle him and his needs. That is until he finds out the reason for his fragile state is he suffered at the hands of the same cult he was a part of and has had trouble locating to find his sister. At first Shepherd want to exploit this connection so that he can use it to locate his sister and take down this cult but the more time he spends with Eli the more he wants something deeper with him, but will Eli be able to handle all complications and danger that comes with being with him...especially when the monster inside his head wants to come out and play.

I thought this book was so cute! I loved the characters together and separately. I will say I don't read a lot of alien romances, but this makes me want to and I am curious about what the future books hold. This is a standalone, but it looks like it will be a start of a series, and I am really curious about the next MMC getting his story.
Now I will say that that while there is no miscommunication trope it at times for me had the feelings of it and maybe that's common in interspecies/alien romances is that they aren't talking about the differences in species and cultures, so they have a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about each other. So, at times during the book I was just like y'all need to sit down and talk.
But something that stands in the way also for these characters is that to have a real conversation would mean being vulnerable with each other and they have both been really hurt by those previous in their life so at the same time I can understand not having the deeper conversations, but the basics could be still have been had.
Both characters though were extremely loveable, and I was so happy that they found each other and were perfect for each other. They definitely were able to give each other what they truly needed to feel happy and secure. Such as Maskir who needs an alpha but doesn't want all the really strong overbearing alpha traits as they really hurt him in the past. But then you have Geo who has these alpha tendencies coming out due to the tether with Maskir but he is still checking in and making sure Maskir is okay with things and even still asking for consent or doing certain activities that in Maskir's culture an alpha would never do but Geo as a human would. I just thought they were cute and loveable, and I am happy they have each other.
This book is about Geo who leaves earth after realizing he needs a new and fresh start especially after realizing his BF has been cheating on him. He decides to go work off planet for a year leaving his home and dogs in the care of his best friend and hopes to be back in a year with the backing to restart his life on earth then. But when he gets to this new planet where he is trying to acclimate and learn all the new species, he is encountering there is one in particular he can't just seem to take his eyes off. A Lornian names Maskir who reminds him of a blue lion. But as captivated as Geo is with him, old baggage and a skittish Maskir makes a friendship let alone more unlikely. That is until a full moon comes and a situation where they are in close contact together brings out Maskir's heat with only Geo to service him. Will this be the chance for both of them to take a chance on each other.

I really Loved this book, and I thought it was really well developed for being a novella. It had an actual plot with a minor antagonist and there was good spice. Usually with novellas the plot is lacking or the spice just because you are limited by page count. But with this I actually was surprised how well rounded of a book it was. So much so that I wish it was a full-length novel as I didn't want it to end. I loved how sassy the FMC was and how the King the MMC had to work for it.
The book starts off with a ball being thrown by the king to find his mate which are found by scent. The FMC is reluctantly at the ball because of her parents when she would rather be tending to her shop helping people and coming up with potions. But at the ball the king catches her scent and realizes she is his mate, and he is hers and so she runs after saying to him HELL NO! She doesn't want to give up her shop and life to become queen. So, he has to convince her that she can have it all at his side.

This is a modern-day Cinderella story if it was a reality show in the Omegaverse. It has the Royal Pack made up of three Alpha males who are required to have this mating trial as it is held every 3rd generation. What makes this one different is instead of choosing from the nobles they are choosing one student from all the omega universities. The FMC is the poor scholarship student that is chosen (accidently) for her school. As she is the poor scholarship student she is bullied at her school by the rich popular people (very light verbal bullying). She is also having problems at home as her mother is sick and unable to work and her father is unable to find a job causing fights in the home. While she thinks she won't be chosen by the Alpha Pack she thinks going can help her family in the long run, so she goes. Won't give the rest of it away.

I found the story to be very cute and a palette cleanser for in-between my darker reads. I found the FMC to be sweet & sassy I mean she even blew up at the prince when she felt disrespected by him. So not a meek omega being walked all over. This had two of the alphas back nearly falling for her instantly while one fighting the attraction because of duty as she has been deemed unsuitable by the queen because of her lack of connections. So, will he or will he not give in and risk it all??? Well, you will have to read and find out. The book was a sweet and easy read without many triggers but there is one physical altercation and a messing of medications if that is something that makes you uncomfortable keep that in mind. Now something I enjoyed that others might and need to keep in mind is there intimate MMM scenes. So, keep that in mind. This is also a standalone novel and while it is part of the same universe there is no overlap other than the first book's characters make a discovery in that book that is relevant in this story but if you never read it then it wouldn't matter. It's more like ahh I remember that from the first book.

I really did enjoy this book and got through it pretty fast. I will say the book was focused more on plot than spice but I didn’t mind as the plot was actually a good one and the spice they did have was enjoyable. I would say plot was 4, spice 3. I will say this a monster romance and while some would say that automatically makes it a dark romance I personally would say on the darkness scale I would say that it’s a 2. MIND you everyone has different levels and interpretations of what is considered dark but thankfully the author did put a triggers page which I always appreciate. The MMC was “mean” to FMC a little and technically he did buy her at auction but in terms of what he could have done as her owner he wasn’t that horrible and he did get her consent when spicy did happen the 1st time. But all in all it was an enjoyable read and the pretty cover will def show on my bookcase

Minor spoiler
Honestly this is more of a 4.5 for me. I loved this book and was invested from the start of this book, and I am already dying for the next book having to do with the brother War. Honestly, I can't wait for each brother's story. I have never been one for book boyfriends but if I was to have a book boyfriend it would be River. He was the perfect blend of obsessed and caring and was always concerned with the well-being of Theo and always seeking consent with him.
This book starts off with River going to a bar and is itching to hurt someone. When across the bar he sees this young guy (Theo) and is instantly obsessed with him. He also realizes something unusual is going on with Theo and the man he is with. Come to find out that Theo has been purchased by the man he is with for the night. Well River decides he must have Theo and offers the other guy money to keep Theo which the other guy is not happy with. So, River just takes Theo and when the other guy follows them River takes care of him permanently... It is when River takes Theo home that he finds out that Theo is a victim of human trafficking and has been for as long as he can remember. Well, that doesn't sit right with River, and he decides not only does he have to win Theo over, but he also needs to get justice and vengeance for him as well.
Totally recommend and can't wait to read the about the rest of the family.

3.5

Honestly this is a 3.5 for me it was a solid book on storyline, the characters were enjoyable to read and it was a quick easy read.
The book is a shifter romance with an omega wolf on the run from her old pack and alpha because she doesn't want to be his breeding mare. Andrea was strong and sassy who did her best to stay off anyone's radar, so she doesn't end up back at her old pack. But then one night in the bar she works she meets Damien who earned a free beer after helping to take out an unruly character. Little does she know that their meeting was not by chance but rather he is a fellow shifter who was hired by her old pack to take care of her...permanently. However, he quickly becomes obsessed with her and his stalking of her evolves past the job into more especially when he realizes his target is also his mate.
Damin was an enjoyable contradiction of stalker hit man who hurts people who even touches Andrea without her consent but then will follow her into a bathroom, tie her up and touch her however he wants. The spice between the two was also well done as well.
For a debut novel this was well done I just wish there was more. More background on the characters and more leaning into the shifter aspect. For a shifter novel I do feel this was a little light on that aspect as there was more focus on the two MMC's and their relationship/spice which is good it's just when I went in expecting a shifter novel that was a little light on shifter traits.

3.75

 Minor spoilers
This is more like 3.75 for me. I really really enjoyed a lot of elements in the book but for some reason I wasn't able to fully get into the book like I normally do so that makes me think this is more of a me issue than any issue with the book that prevented it from being a 4 for me.
The book is about Arden who is kidnapped from the mortal realm and is taken to the FAE world by two strangers after they revealed to her that her fiancé is not who he says he is and has lied to her for the last 10 years. The reason for taking her was for revenge against her fiancé and his sins against the Fae. However, this kidnapping to the Fae world sets off a chain of events that not only leads to her going to a new world full of wonders she had never seen before, but it also brings out into the light secrets about Arden and her past/family that she had no idea about.
I really enjoyed Arden and how strong she was even when she was thrown into a new world that she had no idea existed. She never took anything laying down. All of the mates were interesting and complex in their feelings about the mate bonds that it made for an interesting read. I will say I struggled liking Zorvan as I think the author wrote him a little too well as an ass. While he has his own issues with Arden, his past and her past it which make sense when we learn them it also sometimes seemed like he was around every corner waiting to slut shame her for even looking or hugging these other men who Zorvan knew were her mate as well. While she may have been unaware of the mate bond, he fully knew what was going on and was slut shaming her when really, he was just jealous of her budding relationships with the other mates. He did have some redeemable moments where he let her take charge and even encourage her and supported her when it came to some of the decisions, she made but it again just seemed like the next time we would see him he would have taken 5 steps back and fallen back on slut shaming her.
I liked the twists in this book, and I liked the cliff hanger as well and I am interested in the 2nd book and would defiantly read it. I think with the way this book ended that in the 2nd book when it comes out will have a redemption for him and his relationship with Arden that could easily make it a 4 if it done as well as this book. For a debut novel the author did a great job all around as it was an easy read with some good twists and character backgrounds/developments.
