Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (And Everything in Between) by Lauren Graham
4.0
Listening to this was even more satisfying because Lauren Graham's voice and energy is so wonderful. I honestly didn't know a whole lot about her—I watched Gilmore Girls for the first time only last year (I put it off for years before that because I knew I'd like it once I did watch it, and I wasn't ready to make that monolithic commitment)—but it's interesting to hear the story of how she got into acting and then moved her way into other creative mediums, like writing. It was also, of course, great to get some insight into the behind-the-scenes of the show. And as a writer, I appreciated her advice on how she gets herself into a focused mindset so that she can be productive and get words onto the page. I definitely recommend this book, and I think it's preferable to listen to it on audio.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling

My first experience with this book was my dad reading it to me and my brother. I did not think I would like it at first and honestly thought it sounded stupid. As he read it more to us, however, I ended up going out and getting my own copy (well my dad bought it for me) and reading ahead. It starts out a little dry but that's to set up the story. Past the first couple of chapters, it hooks you in and you cannot stop reading.
