This was an odd read for me, especially now that I'm trying to decide on a rating.

On one hand, I loved the book during the early portions, the “fourteen years ago” when Tate and Sam meet in London. During that short time span, there are a number of key moments that facilitate the growth in their relationship. It was a great time seeing them fall in love.

Jumping forward fourteen years… I don’t know. While I was picking the book back up eagerly, I also felt like there were a number of things missing. I guess I wanted more between Tate and Sam in their present day, more development in their relationship- whether it was anger, hate, love- anything. I don’t think there was enough there. And too, the end of the book felt too quick, especially after the build up.

Overall though, I don’t regret my time reading Twice in a Blue Moon. This being my first Christina Lauren book, and I am definitely excited to read more by them.

The pages of this book pulled me in from the start. There is a great combination of elements that blended very well, the pacing of the book is very good- I don’t feel like it drags on anywhere, though I will say it is much more fast-paced at the end, but that is to be expected as things are wrapping up. I do wish some fo the twists and turns were more spread throughout the book, I feel like that is a little back heavy. But again, I think that’s to be expected as well with wrapping up a book.

The only “issue” with the book that I had is I did not “see” enough development of Esta’s relationships in the present before she time jumped to the past. I think if there had been a little bit more development there, it would have made it more understandable, or easier to grasp, why Esta’s mission and getting back to the present was so important to her.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book, especially the audiobook- it really helped me keep all the characters in order because there are quite a few of them. I am very much looking forward to the next book!
