The Prince of Midnight by Laura Kinsale
3.0
I'm not a fan of the usual mass market romance books, which is sad, because I love romance, but this book was actually pleasantly nice. I'm not going to say it's the most amazing love story I've ever read, but for the romance novels that I usually see lining the shelves, this one I was actually able to get through, enjoy, and will possibly read again somewhere down the line. I also liked the fact that the first character introduced is a man and has things written from his perspective.
Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice
3.0
While I found this book to be interesting with the thoughts posed on religion and the afterlife... most of the book is a monologue of Memnoch speaking with Lestat. I was waiting for something to happen, but nothing ever really did. Like I said before, I thought it was interesting, which is why it gets a 3, but overall, I wouldn't find it to be a very important book in the series.
Storm Front by Jim Butcher

This is one of my coworker's favorite series and she ended up gifting me the first 3 books last Christmas. I've only read this one so far, but oh my gosh did I love it! The humor was great, Dresden is super relatable, and it's not a difficult read so it doesn't take long to finish (and you'll be flipping through those pages fast if you enjoy it as much as I did).
The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice
5.0
Armand is one of my very favorite characters and I loved being able to learn more about him, what his life was like, where he came from, etc. He has a broody manner which I completely enjoy as well. Definitely one of my favorite books in the series!
The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski

Loved this book! Geralt and the other characters are amazing and I love the sarcastic humor throughout. It was a little hard to follow along, but that definitely didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying it!
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

I gotta say, I really enjoyed this one! I should have read it in high school, and I did read a little of the beginning, but that was it! I had wanted to read it though when I had learned about all the symbolism in the book, and it is fantastic. The copy that I happen to have was actually used for an essay or some sort of report on it so I have notes on the symbolism while I'm reading along with it. Great book, and a good look at how morals were viewed back in that day.
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

Oh my god. Oh my god I loved every minute of this book. I love how Laurent and Damen interact, I love that this entire book is a complete tease, and I love where the story is going. I can't wait to read the next one!
Amsterdam by Ian McEwan

I feel like I could have stopped reading this book at page 30. It wasn't great. I don't get what was supposedly witty or so morally important in the story as the summary states. Sure, Vernon could have ruined the guy's life, but it didn't seem that significant. I guess I just didn't get the point of the story.
A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
3.0
It wasn't a bad book, I did like it, just not enough to read it again, and probably not enough to keep going with the series. The pace is too slow for my liking and there were only a few characters that I really wanted to read about.
