3.5/5⭐️ because I’m glad I read this but I could never bring myself to read it again. Jodi Picoult sets up a beautifully crafted moral debate only to end it cheaply and by default. Sigh.
4.5-5/5⭐️ I didn’t think I was going to love a book by Abby Jimenez more than Just For The Summer, but here we are. This book has so many things that speak to my heart - dementia, long distance relationships, animals. It read like a romcom, especially the banter in the dialogue. The only thing that gave me the ick was when the two main characters cuddles in a hospital bed (but that’s a personal thing) so I had to dock it just a bit. Otherwise flawless with no notes!!
This book was so fast paced and kept me hooked. I enjoyed it but my buggest critique was <spolier>Stella’s childhood traumas play too big of a role in this book and distract from the thriller aspect of it. It took away from the intensity of the book and just made me feel bad for her rather than make her a more dimensional character. The background and reveal of Charles being heavily involved in her childhood and life before she formally met him was kind of odd and didn’t sit right with me either.
Also I feel for Rose. And appreciate all the therapy at the end for everyone. And Stellas happy ending with a new lady friend!
I can’t believe this series is done! It was quite the ride but I really enjoyed the characters and how much depth they had. The universe was pretty easy to follow.
I loved that Spiro just randomly left for two books and would pop up out of nowhere in this one lol
This took me way too long to get through but somehow was also pretty good? I can’t explain how a book drew me in so much but pained me to get through (more of a personal problem maybe). The ending gave me Thanos’ snap vibes.
This was a heartwarming tale that read almost like a Pixar movie to me. The characters were very three dimensional. My biggest gripe was the narrator of the audiobook whispers half this book and made it hard to hear while driving or running outside.
