Scythe by Neal Shusterman

I did like this book, it certainly was addicting. I really loved the concept and the world. The wording of it was beautiful, my personal favourite parts were the journal entries, I found them very interesting and well written. There were characters that I really enjoyed, specifically the three mentor scythes and Scythe Volta. The main characters were eh. (minor spoilers ahead) I'm getting really sick of forced romance and I didn't think it was necessary here. I don't know why they couldn't have just bonded as friends, they had no natural romantic chemistry at all. I really hope the rest of the series doesn't go the way it seems like it's heading towards. Besides that, it kinda felt random in it's story beats. It was quite slow-moving, but then suddenly over halfway through the book the author went "Shoot! I have to move the plot forward", and then rushed through it. It sort of went off the rails towards the end, I much preferred the beginning. But I did like it quite a lot. There were moments where I cheered out loud. I guess I didn't really want extensive plots from this book, I wanted to learn more about the world they lived in, because I loved the concept and the little details. That was all great. Other than that, there were just little gripes I had. For example, they have reached a point where technology can not advance any further, but yet they haven't invented a lie detector. I get why they didn't use it in the situation, but why wasn't it even brought up by anyone? (sorry, just had to get that off my chest). Anyway, I've heard great things about the next book, excited to read it!

The beginning and end of this book were very good but I found myself very bored throughout. It just felt like nothing happened (even though lots did) and it was particularly a slog towards the end. I really love Greyson and I hope he gets a happy ending. The main drive for me to finish the series is to see what happens to him. Citra and Rowan are both still kinda boring though, all the side characters outshined them both substantially. I found this a lot worse than the second one and once again my favourite part of the novel were the little parts in the middle, this time written by the Thunderhead. I find the Thunderhead super interesting and is a very great interpretation of "the AI that has taken over humanity". I really love how that idea is portrayed and I really hope that is explored in the next book. Anyway, beginning and ending both 4-5 stars, but the book overall, just meh.

please don't kill me hehe

I definitely liked this much more than Thunderhead. I was hooked the whole way through and I liked the new characters, especially Jeri. Although this didn't feel like a Scythe book. As I was reading, I was thinking about how different the tone of this was. Once again, the little bits before the chapters, especially the little conversations, were really really interesting and my favourite parts.
As I predicted (not that it was hard to) Rowan and Citra got together.
Grr
It just really annoyed me when Citra completely changed her decision for a relationship that hasn't really been developed. But I've never liked their characters so eh.
I felt Goddard was very underused. He was a very developed and hatable villain, but his ending just kind of felt haphazard.
I was pretty confused by the ending and somewhat disappointed.
But though I had these problems, I actually did enjoy this book. I really thought I was going to DNF this if Thunderhead was any indication, but it was very easy to get through. I was pleasantly surprised.

Re-reading this reminded me why this book is currently my favourite book of all time. Likeable (and hateable) fully realized characters, interesting themes and very well written. Truly one of the greatest novels out there from one of the greatest authors out there. Just as good as the first time.
Thank you so much V.E Schwab.

This was probably the easiest read of the year so far. I just flew through this. Yes, it was short. But it was also just a fun, cute little story. The world is really cool and intriguing, I really enjoyed it. It wasn't written how I expected it to be, but I was actually pretty pleasantly surprised. Yet another great Victoria Schwab book. Am I really surprised?

This was AMAZING! I loved it so much.

Jacob is one of my favourite characters. His story is really interesting and I can't wait to see more of him in the next book.

Which I can't read because NO LIBRARIES are open! I NEED TO READ THIS! AHHHHH!

Anyway, great book. One of my favs.

I really loved this book! I thought the second one was better but I still enjoyed the things that happened. All the characters were as lovable as ever and I really liked the way they were all used. There were some plot points I thought were unessacery, such as Ned's one. And I really wish that (Spoilers) Lila and Kell didn't end up together. I never really thought of them as a good match. I guess it was inevitable. But this was still a very entertaining book and had me on the edge of my seat at multiple points. Had a very fun time reading and it was a great conclusion to a great trilogy.
