I laughed.
I related to the characters.
I cheered.
I yelled at characters I wanted to just shut up.
Most wonderful rom-com and easily could listen straight through in one day with no complaints. Absolutely engaging and the spice, chefs kiss.

The performance was done well though Oz could have sounded less like a snooty rich white guy lol.

This book set up such a great world and some pretty good characters. I really enjoyed it.

I’m a little confused on the whole point of it being a series when there was a pretty good ending in my opinion with really only one question left somewhat unanswered.

Will be diving into book 2 ready to see where this leads me.

The book is very similar to the series in book 1. I am disappointed that my favorite characters seem to either not exist or be so minor in the books that they don’t really count. I will continue with this series if for nothing else than the memory of how much I loved the show.

My 💭: This book had a super strong start for me. I really enjoyed the world building and the type of magic portrayed in the story. There are very clear lines drawn in the beginning for those you’re meant to think of as the villains of the story as well. Some of the characters read extremely young and the banter reminded me of middle and high school at times, which lost a few points from me. Overall this is a great start to a story but, the ending left something to be desired. I’m not talking in the cliffhanger type way. It just felt abrupt. Favorite characters for me, Gideon and Nico as well as, Parisa. I found the most connection to Parisa throughout which May say something about me 😆 I’m okay with it though. I can’t wait to see where the rest of this story goes in book 2 of this duology. I read and listened to this book and loved the cast of narrators! Though Steve West reading for my least favorite character made me sad and also love Callum just a little bit.

Dyslexia Fact: multiple POV can be a struggle so that would be why I purchased both the hardcover and audiobook for this one. Reading along while listening helps me to better grasp the story when it comes from so many different characters. Having each character be a different narrator makes it even better.
