Beautiful. Beautifully written and narrated. Will be reading again just for the joy of it.

This is the first true crime book I’ve read that REALLY centers the victims and heroes, instead of the vile murderer and their acts.
It was refreshing, and heartbreaking, and inspiring.

The writing was excellent and the narrative jump back and forth done well. The story was really compelling and, unfortunately, not one I’d really heard. I think it’s important for anyone who enjoys true crime to read this book or something like it. Because this is the story worth telling.

I went in to this book blind- plot wise- and I suggest other readers do the same.
It was a rollercoaster because the narrator isn’t just unreliable, he knows he is.
Also I cried, a lot.

It was brilliant.

I enjoyed the story, like I do all Stephen King stories. But the older he gets the less like real people his characters sound. The main character unironically refers to a woman as a “bodacious babe.” The dialogue just isn’t it.
Not a typical SK horror book, but an entertaining story. Like usual with his work I really enjoyed the first 2/3 and felt it fell apart quite a bit towards the end, though not as completely as his books tend to.
