this book has definitely be added to like top 5 favorite books. i felt very connected to the characters as a creative. the first part in art school was eerily similar to what i went through as well as my musing of what art school would be like before i went. the book beautifully comments on the complexities or being an artist and the art world in general. as well as the shift with the rise of the internet. as must read as a creative regardless of age.

this book was such a great addition to the series cuz it really filled in all the gaps. there is huge debate on when this book should be read as it’s a prequel. people say to either read it 3rd or 4th but i actually read it 7th before the final and found it a really cool spot dive deeper into some of the stories. by reading it seventh, you already know all of the characters in the novellas so you don’t get confused as yo why you are reading so much about these random stories. this could definitely be read at any point or even in tandem with the introductions of the characters. i 100% wouldn’t read it as the first book in the series though. you need the character development of at least the first two books, as well as some of the context, to even be remotely engaged. overall a great read and it was fun to jump back in time before the final book

i wasn’t looking forward to this book as much as the other ones simply because i didn’t tandem read it with EoS so after reading that i was like ugh i have to leave all the characters i love (aelin, rowan, lysandra, etc.) and read about chaol? umm no thanks. so it was a bit of a slow start getting into this one especially with all the new characters in the 6th book of the series. BUT…..i have to say the yrene/ chaol story line GOT ME i loved following their relationship same with nesryn and sartaq. once we were out of all the world building hand into the adventure and twists that this series does so well, then I couldn’t stop reading. the ending was amazing and has left me so hopefully for the final book

this book started off a bit slow for me, i think because of how much i loved queen of shadows and i was over that story yet. but once i go like 150 pages in i couldn’t put it down and just like most sjm books the last 200 pages were CRAZY. the twists and turns and secrets in this series can be hard to follow at first but the pay off of the reveals are so worth it. i love the characters and all their relationships sm that i don’t want this series to end!!

probably one of the best ones of the series so far in my opinion. so much action and the storylines all started coming together. the world building is so good in the TOG series, the characters are so lovable and the twists an turns make it so you literally can put this down especially in the last like 150 pages

this one brought in the machine element which really heightened the story. this is where the series really starts developing and multiple story lines are going at once. it was a bit hard to get into to start because there was a lot of character introductions and set up but the last half/quarter ish went really fast. definitely still keeping me engaged so that i want to keep going with the series

was excited to keep going with this series after the first one. celaena is a bad ass and i love following her character. this one had more romance which was fun and also so seriously sad sections but still had a heavy emphasis on the adventure. the last like 100 pages were sooo good and i really couldn’t put it down
