I may or may not lower my rating but its been a few days and I am still sitting at a 5 star rating!
This book was everything I wanted Vows and Ruins to be. There was much more plot to this book like an actual storyline other then the toxic hookups that took place in Vows and Ruins...
This wasn't all sunshine and daisies...there were twists and turns that kept me engaged. I am very intrigued with where this series is going and can't wait for the last book to come out at the end of the month!

I am re-reading this book as part of a read-a-long with some friends on Booktube! I was also able to finish this book for Realmathon as my last book of the month for team time!
I am listening to the audiobooks and really enjoying my time with them! I feel like the narrator does a great job in bringing the characters to life. There is character development from our main characters in this book as they are now teenagers. School is also getting a lot more demanding for them as well with their O.W.L. exams coming up. This book definitely grew up with the targeted audience as it covers some heavier topics as well.
I wish I had time to go over everything this book covers but I just don't have it in me to do that. This is my first time re-reading this book as an adult and there is so much that happens. I feel like this is a set up book for what's to come from the last 2 books of the series (which I am also excited to re-read as an adult for the first time) As readers we have hated characters, <spoiler >seen favorites pass away, fought Voldemort, and made it out alive. I am very excited to see where this adventure is going to take me next with book 6!

I read this book as part of the Tomes and Treasures a Dungeon's and Dragon's inspired readathon hosted by The Creepy Geek on Bookstagram. I have not decided which prompt I'm going to fulfill with this book at the time of writing this review.
This book has been on my radar since it was announced at the beginning of the year! But thanks to Realmathon last month alot of people read it and it peaked my interest even more! Thankfully the library and libby Gods came through and my hold came in at the end of March. I'm a little overdue on returning this book tho (sorry next person in line) which is why I prioritized it to be the first book I read in April!
This book did not disappoint and it definitely lived up to the hype for me personally! Was it a perfect book no, there were some things that annoyed me / rubbed me the wrong way with the main character Freya. And I definitely saw one of the big reveals at the end coming. But based on vibes this book was 5 stars for me and I cannot wait for book 2!! I definitely want to add this one to my collection!
There are many different God's and prophecies in this story that I have a hard time understanding myself let alone explaining so I highly recommend listening to the audiobook for this book to try and get a better understanding of everything thats discussed.
I think the author wanted the reader to feel a certain way about Snorri and and his wife Ylva. Snorri is very set in his belief that having Freya as his wife and in his control is his destiny to be the ruler of all the kingdoms and he makes a-lot of decisions based on this. There is a lot of death and sacrifice in this story in the name of Freya.
Ylva is portrayed in a way that makes the reader think she is jealous of Freya and betraying her husband to the enemy. I don't think she is 100% innocent but we find out at the end that she is not the traitor.
Bjorn is an interesting character and honestly I was uneasy about his motivations from the start. Snorri tells him multiple times that it is his destiny to watch over and guard Freya wherever she goes. And that if he doesn't do this he will no longer be the Heir to the throne. But Bjorn doesn't want to rule. Overtime a short period of time a forbidden romance starts between them. Even tho I was weary of Bjorn he does treat Freya decently. BUT I still suspected that his motivations weren't 100% true to his fathers wishes...he is not who he seems to be...
Freya is very rash in her decision making and doesn't always think things through before she reacts to things. Its almost like she has split personalities at times and it was very difficult to understand her reasoning for things especially when she was in battle. She also stays loyal to people who treat her badly on multiple occasions especially when it comes to her family. She just doesn't think before she does things and it made me roll my eyes on multiple occasions. It's hard to feel sorry for someone who makes the same poor decision more than once. She also questioned why people judge her for those decisions on more than one occasion.
Over all I had a great time with this book! The last few chapters ended in a way that make me want to pick up book 2 right away! I know we will probably have to wait a while for it to come out BUT I'll be ready and waiting!!

I have been waiting to read Blood and Steel specifically for the readathon Reamathon hosted by Cassidy at coverswithcassidy and I was not dissapointed by this book! I loved the main characters Thea and Wilder and their story! However I do recommend starting with Slaying the Shadow Prince if you are planning on starting this series because characters from Shadow prince are mentioned in Blood and Steel.
I do not have it in me to explain this book at the moment...I may come back and review it later...this was 5 stars for me tho!! Its just alot to explain...

5 stars!!
This book absolutely blew me away! I bought this book when it first came out and was extremely intimidated buy it so it sat on my shelf for 2 years. A couple of weeks ago I saw that Jay kristoff is coming to a local bookstore near me TONIGHT! So my bookish friend and I decided to do a buddy read and attend the event!
Its taken us about a month and a half and thank goodness hoopla had the audiobook but I finished this book last night and literally experienced every emotion possible! I literally spent 3 hours fully absorbed in the last section of this story last night!
I understand the draw of liking an Anti-hero. I honestly didn't know what to expect from this book but I was fully absorbed in Gabriel's story's throughout this book. There was a lot of raw emotion behind his actions and the reader doesn't necessarily get the full story until the last part of the story. There are a lot of layers to this one and people may be portrayed a certain way but you truly see their intentions towards the end!
I cannot wait to see where this series goes with the second book because that ending was crazy!! I'm still shocked because you honestly never know who you can trust!
