I am not sure how to process my thoughts on this one. I really enjoyed it and I felt that it was relatable in terms of how you start to develop relationships as a teen. Friendships and romantic relationships are depicted in a very realistic manner. Good and bad. The heartbreak is realistic also.
Honestly, I adored Finny. He is such a good character and well developed.

I was very hesitant to read this book bc I wasn’t too crazy about Credence (written by the same author) BUT THIS BOOK? SLOW BURN BUT SPICCYYYY!

No bc shut up!

Obviously I’m one of the many people very invested in the Gypsy Rose case. From the time I first watched The Act on Hulu to now I’ve been intrigued. After watching The Act and hearing that Gypsy was not even consulted on her side of things, it made me question what her side truly was.
While this book was a super quick and easy read, it was a good glimpse at what is to come in her memoir. While reading this it was what to see personal photographs, letters, and some of her call transcripts from when she was serving her time. With the way the media has been portraying Gypsy since her release, I’ve had many conflicting thoughts. So reading this and watching her lifetime special, has given me a lot of insight and things to think about. Obviously I’m not one to judge because Gypsy is the only one who lived her story. She’s the only one that can tell her experience.

I really enjoyed reading this, however this would be great as an audiobook because of the call transcripts! If you’re into Gypsy and her case, I’d recommend you check this out so you have an idea of what’s to come!

“I’d always thought of myself as a true-crime junkie. But it turned out, that was only when it happened to other people. ”

UHM WOW.

Read this book in about 6 hours total. It was a page turner for me and I wanted to know what was going to happen next constantly. I did read things and feel sad but never cried. The relationship between Em and her mother was definitely a rough one. While I understood the grief and how her mother was acting… it made me mad because SHE IS THE MOM. She isn’t the only one grieving. This book did an amazing job at depicting grief, loss, illnesses, suffering, and healing.
The way that relationships formed, broke, and healed in this book was a tug at my heart strings. I could see this book being potentially triggering for someone with an auto immune disease or someone who has a loved one with one. While it did an amazing job (I assume- I wouldn’t know personally) showing what it’s like to live with lupus, it still very sad. It’s a bit of a beautiful way to educate the world.

Unpopular opinion: I really really wanted this book to destroy me.. it did not.

LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE!!!
Elliot? ADORED.

❓- So I am honestly unsure how to rate this book. I’ve never read a parody before. I’ve watched parody movies, but never a book. I did find myself rolling my eyes and laughing at the things said. Everything was so unserious it was comical. Many of the references made will definitely date the book, but I enjoyed the references. I often times asked myself “why am I STILL reading this?”

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5- ‼️TW: Child abuse, drug addiction, domestic violence/physical abuse, verbal abuse, suicide/self harm, grief, loss‼️

Let me be honest: it took me about 300 pages to really get into this book. I was unsure about continuing it prior to that point. Seeing as it had 814 pages, I figured I’d give it a shot and try …leading up to about 300 pages in.

With that being said…I did not cry while reading A Little Life. That doesn’t mean that it was not sad or heartbreaking, because that IT WAS! I just think that topics and books definitely hit different for everyone. I did shed a single tear at one point in the book.
