So this wasn't exactly what I was expecting.
It had a strong start and I was very invested in the world of magic and dragons.
But unfortunately for me it just flopped a bit when it came to the "memory loss" trope and the lack of dragons.
Dragons felt like an afterthought to the story and plot.

It also got to a point where I wasn't sure where this was going? And Raeve was extremely unlikable throughout.

I also found nothing surprised me, I figured it out before the reveal happened which was a shame.

I did enjoy the world building and think it has potential but unfortunately it just wasn't as good as other reads.
Especially Fourth Wing.

Another great read from Ali Hazelwood. And it was nice to have a different story between two love interests.

However, I genuinely didn't like Rue. I understand she had issues but my God, she really wasn't very good to Eli and it bothered me a great deal πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ.

That being said, I still enjoyed it.

As a big fan of J Bree's Broken Bonds series, I just had to pick up her romantasy series between a witch and a high fae prince.
Whilst the first book "The Crown of Oaths and Curses" was a slow start and (at times) difficult to get into, especially to understand the world and different witches covens. I absolutely loved the chemistry and relationship between Rooke and Soren.
A very slooooow burn.
And the ending where Rooke takes on the raving witches alone, absolute *chefs kiss* πŸ’‹.

I was super eager to pick this book up and it didn't disappoint, especially when we finally got Rooke and Soren alone.

However, I did find I was left a bit disappointed by the amount of grammar and spelling mistakes throughout my kindle copy. It really took me out of the story.
Also, I think the author got a bit confused between Gideon and Gade's wife Rhosh. She was both their wife at one point. 😬
And lastly, she would write mostly in first person in POV chapters for Rooke and Soren but then it's like she forgot who she was writing as and it majorly confused me...πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Not to mention I felt like I was missing sections of the story? Maybe I wasn't putting it together as easily as I should've been, but at the end *spoilers ahead*....
- The Blood witches were actually her dad's coven? So, where does Baylor come into this? Why would he turn against his coven? Unless they are a different coven?
- Pemba is dead?!?! Excuse me?!?! I honestly feel freaking gaslit over that news, she spoke of him as though he was alive the entire time, same as his wife, Cerson. Not cool.

Overall, I absolutely love this series and definitely cannot wait for the third book to continue Rooke and Soren's story. πŸ‘πŸΌ

It took me 7 months to finish this book on audible.
I honestly expected so much more from it and it had such a strong start with lots of potential, but it was just BORING.

The romance was hardly there, Luella annoyed the ever loving s*** out of me.

Plus I didn't like the magic system, and considering the ENTIRE plot of this book is about the magic system and how to undo the "Human Queen" role, it just didn't land. Plus, when they do solve it, it was so anti-climatic.

I finally felt as though we got to see Hades and Persephone's romance really bloom. 🌸

Just wish there was more packed in to each comic, I whizz through these!

A very, very slow book.
Absolutely no romance to be had the entire book.
Very much a bullying type of fated mates.

That being said, I enjoyed learning about the history of the Unseelie Court. What happens when denying the fates and the Unreen creatures.

I hope the next book dives more into why so many witches would turn from their old ways and become those poisonous creatures.
I also hope we see some major grovelling and begging from Soren to Rooke. Perhaps a nice sprinkle of jealousy would go a long nicely 😏.

Looking forward to book 2. πŸ‘πŸ»
Sad it was delayed a month, I planned this so I could read it seamlessly to the next book.

It was ok, not as good as "The Fake Mate".
Enjoyed most of it, but found it too predictable and didn't really feel the chemistry πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ.

I enjoyed the style of writing with all the floorplans, news clippings, comments, polls, emails and voicemails.
But I feel like the reveal at the end was a bit disappointing...
I also feel like I missed something important?
The last two news clippings on a missing watch and the room being in disarray but not being treated as foul play?

If anyone can enlighten what I missed, that would be great.
